Alison Bennett MP: I'm fed up with the demonisation of parents: blamed for gaming the system, for being too soft, for bothering overworked teachers... the crisis in send is not the fault of parents. One parents said they need to see what it is like for parents... #senddebate

Now that’s a disgrace. May for some obscene reason be legal, but it shouldn’t be
@nw_nicholas MP for Tottenham: "London MP, with a constituency only 28 minutes away by Tube from Parliament, claims £12,041 for a second home" "Mr Lammy admitted the expense in the first published account of MPs’ spending, and is among 32 outer London MPs claiming the second home

“Mean streets” Phillipson
@bphillipsonMP @The_TUC ‘When I was young, me and me mam lived in a shoe…’ Bridget Phillipson conveniently omits to mention her dad is Fraser Kemp - MP in her constituency before her - or that she went to the best school in the area and then Oxford Uni. Who paid your tuition fees, Bridget?

Deprived 66,000 poor kids of a breakfast
@oldishbird1 To be fair I think out of all those people you’ve mentioned, Angela Rayner would have the most to say about a Tory MP doing what she has just done. Not only did she breach the ministerial code but she also failed to take expert advice and owes HMRC £40k plus interest & a penalty.

Disgraceful indeed. "Disrupting education is awful, except for children of people I don't like"
This really is a disgraceful tweet. @Keir_Starmer’s government put 20% VAT on private school fees mid academic causing disruption to the education of thousands of children and now costing the livelihood of hundreds of teachers. Zero support was provided to migrating children.

@LBC @BenKentish No, the issue is the rank hypocrisy of avoiding the 2nd home stamp duty uplift, whilst decrying tax avoidance.

Angela Rayner's defence against dodging £40,000 of stamp duty on her new house by designating it as her main residence at the last minute is that she wasn't engaging in tax evasion -- nothing illegal about it, honest guv. It was merely tax avoidance. Not sure that line will

Where Reeves is incompetent, Torsten Bell is a threat to all prosperity and thus employment prospects. An idealist who’s never operated in the world of business, who thinks those who have strived to achieve a decent quality of life should shoulder the burden for everyone else.
@thomwiseman The bloke doesn’t understand ANYTHING. These are the policies he suggested in his last job…

“The education of children is of secondary importance to the indulgence of Phillipson’s personal spite”
@katieleeming3 @vickygrayson_ @jrkdenison @dshensmith @anaboultertv This line in the Spectator article just keeps ringing true eh @bphillipsonMP ?

Under the last government the biggest gains in English schools were in the bottom half - and poor kids in England now do better than the *average* child in Labour-run Wales.
It shouldn't be controversial to say we need to do better by white working class children – it's obvious. The Tories couldn't have cared less, Labour is grasping the nettle. Government needs to step up to this generational challenge, and we will. https://t.co/lkobgLAEFZ

@Wokewaster She doesn’t look as sad as the children at my kids’ school. Catastrophically out of her depth and driven by stupid ideology.

The government are deliberately creating big holes with over inflating their spending plans in order that they can introduce taxes they’ve always wanted to. They’re increasing spend in order to tax. Not increasing tax in order to spend.
“The Labour government looks to hike inheritance tax and capital gains tax to help plug £40bn hole.” The Guardian reports that ministers are considering introducing a lifetime cap on the amount an individual can give away as part of their inheritance tax planning. At present,

Explain to me @bphillipsonMP why a professional working adult is exempt on paying tax to do an MBNA but a professional working adult has to pay tax on their child’s education? It’s utter bollocks. Illogical spiteful bollocks policy. Makes no sense and raising zero money.

Hi @SamFr. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the points below by @IsabelPat1886 . It could explain the reaction you've gotten to your post on school fee VAT.

Rachel Reeves hikes stamp duty. So people stop buying houses. So she gets less in stamp duty tax than she did before hiking the rates. Rachel Reeves hikes NI and minimum wage for employers. So employers go bust. So she loses all their tax and pays benefits to the now

@LegalGengar @CF_Farrow @RachelReevesMP @bphillipsonMP I always knew it was only a matter of time until Irn Bru got into our schools via their favourite influencer. A bowl of sugary coco pops washed down with a bottle of Irn Bru to really get the kids going.
