How can COVID-19 damage the brain ? What is the mechanisms underlying SARS-CoV-2 tropism for (brain) vasculature ? Glad to share our pre-print: … #Endothelialcells #SARSCoV2 #covid19research #Brain #CNSangiogenesis

I am grateful to a great team of scientists that made this work possible Especially my PhD mentors @debocklab , @garybader1 , Ivan Radovanovic, and @ThomasWalchli with whom I extensively discussed🙏 “No one can whistle a symphony. It takes an orchestra to play it.”

Cell-cell interaction analyses predict numerous endothelial-to-perivascular cell ligand-receptor crosstalk including immune-related and angiogenic pathways, thereby unraveling a central role for the endothelium within brain neurovascular unit signaling networks.

We performed single-cell RNA sequencing of 599,215 freshly isolated endothelial, perivascular and other tissue-derived cells from 47 fetuses and adult patients to construct a molecular atlas of the developing fetal, adult control and diseased human brain vasculature.

@danis1337 our sc-atlas describes the transcriptional heterogeneity of endothelial and perivascular cells across the developing, adult homeostatic, and pathological brain vasculature - including brain tumors (LGG, GBM, metastasis, meningioma) and brain vascular malformations (AVMs).
