@garybrannan BTW, my unverified source says scrofula is a type of tuberculosis affecting the lymph nodes, so you'd both be right.

@garybrannan Heh, so it wasn't just me that had to go looking things up compulsively. I started with 'imposthume' & 'chrisome'.

@LanbroCalrisian @garybrannan It's a fair cop. And to be fair to myself, that kind of corner case is why I'd qualified that with 'might have mixed up.' But yes, I see that other Charles Bronson makes sense now. The idea of being served a milkshake by the Death Wish guy might be more amusing. Just maybe.

@tamsully12 Those from Southeastern Wisconsin might favour a certain Captain (? Major?) Richard Bong, namesake of the Bong Recreational Area.

@MrsWalker613 @progress2trees @sportswithjohn Do you want 'never say never again'? Because that's how you get 'never say never again'. I.e. not only did he specify 'in Europe', he also never said 'never'.

@Stonekettle @BadAstronomer @FrankConniff My world just got a bit smaller again. Michelle was my Best Lady (like a best man, except for the obvious) at my wedding. I might expect Phil to mention her, but Jim surprised me.

@seanparkerphoto @whatsuptucson You mean 5th St. & 3rd Ave., right? That's the Sky Bar parking lot on the right? What would be 3rd St. is usually called University Blvd. around those bits. Anyway, point is, it's this side of 3rd Ave., right? So not exactly the house I used to live in.

@ChemicalEagle @kamirose @Oyxoyxpucouc @hankgreen Well, I'm an American living in the UK, and frequently wear those things, so I go back and forth between suspenders & braces, often depending on which will sound sillier to my audience.

@kamirose @Oyxoyxpucouc @hankgreen The point is, to the British, those are holding up trousers, not pants. Something holding up pants would support what you'd call underwear.

@ironman469 @4TerryFarrell I must admit, I was immediately reminded of the Horse Lubbers that fascinated me in Arizona, but I think the others have it with their Barber Pole Grasshopper.

@professor_dave All their fancy schmancy rules, but they can't even be bothered to learn the difference between 'i.e.' & 'e.g.'
