Years ago, a manager shouted at me in front of the whole office. I asked her to join me in a meeting room (with a member of HR) & told her:
"Only my parents can talk to me like that and the last time I checked, they don't work here..."
She never shouted at me(or anyone) again.
White people at work quite literally act as if Black colleagues are on the plantation they run with the way that they speak to you.
You know what spins me? The way in which people speak to you is never how my mum or dad spoke to me even when I infuriated them.

On top of being very socially awkward, my date then broke out in hives halfway through dinner and had to leave.
