So are we going to wait until all the Caribbean islands are covered by water before we have holistic conversations about climate change?
Asking for your grand kids
Every morning I will laugh.
When I’m washing my legs.
When I’m washing my feet.
When I moisturise my body.
When I lock the moisture with avocado oil.
I will laugh.
Alright, this has already sparked a lot of talk here and brought up a follow up question: Do you wash your feet? I'll admit, I don't usually wash the bottoms of my feet because a)they're already in all the soapy water at the bottom & b) it makes it scary slippery! Your thoughts?

I'll never forget the day when Miley Cyrus moved her bum from left to right in front of Robin Thicke and mainstream media said she was twerking.
🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️
It still offends me to this day.
Years ago, a manager shouted at me in front of the whole office. I asked her to join me in a meeting room (with a member of HR) & told her:
"Only my parents can talk to me like that and the last time I checked, they don't work here..."
She never shouted at me(or anyone) again.
White people at work quite literally act as if Black colleagues are on the plantation they run with the way that they speak to you.
You know what spins me? The way in which people speak to you is never how my mum or dad spoke to me even when I infuriated them.
I’m sorry to break it to you, but things are going to get even worse before Brits do any sort of meaningful mass protest against the government and the corporate businesses that have got us in this mess.
Just because someone's critiquing voting Labour, doesn't mean they're arguing to vote for the Conservatives.
Dream big. Engage the brain. You have 41 days.
Sir, it’s very simple.
Until you address that horrific time of slavery that’s directly linked to the three letters after your name, we don’t want to hear critical race theory about a mermaid film *from you*.
Two days ago I wrote a tweet about The Little Mermaid which went viral (12m views) I have deleted it, because it was widely misunderstood. A short thread...
Race play is not sexual liberation.
Race play does not exist in a vacuum outside of racism.
Race play *is* racism *in action*.
Like your "preferences", kinks come from somewhere.
The problem is, most people don't want to do the work to unpack where they come from.
The fact that Tolly, a dark skin black woman, is instantly labelled a bully after Milena abruptly leaves, with no evidence to support these allegations, shows just how mad some of you are.
Everyday addicted to drama instead of the common sense that has left your heads
Interesting how Ovie is more or less praised post-island, but the minute Yewande, a dark-skinned Black woman, simply turns up being herself, misogynoir and anti-blackness rears it ugly head.
Some of you will end up with skin like Katie Hopkins because of the hate you give.
@kelechnekoff
To set boundaries against a capitalist system that tells you to work on your days off is the kind of resilience I love about Gen Z.
Someone needs to tell him to use his money to buy a clue.
I hope for a future where black women don't have to wait 24 years (plus a multi-episode documentary) just to be taken seriously by the criminal justice system.
Sorry, but you lot crying about being politically lost better find your bloodclart self real quick because this can’t be the Labour you’re gonna vote for later this year 😂
Funny how immigrants are only praised as heroes, by a particular demographic, when Britain's economic infrastructure is on the brink of collapse and said demographic are dying up and down the country.
‘It’s worth bearing in mind when we talk about immigrants in this country, these are the immigrants currently saving people's lives. Coming here and actually enriching our country and doing an amazing job’ -
@piersmorgan
Instead of investigating the systemic and institutional reasons why drug, alcoholism and rates of psychological trauma are so high with indigenous Australians, it's a whole 'Megxit' you want to bring to the table - as opposed to your inherent racism?
The ghetto.
What I really want from us as a community is to do the research and reading on Black British history, especially in relation to our physical, permanent spaces over the last 50 years and what led us to having almost none.
@SincerelyTops
I remember when Chicken Bea first blew up and everyone was on this bird app defending her and saying “it’s not that deep”.
We all know why sis is popular, but if I talk…
The only way White artists/musicians will use their platforms to talk about racism is when it's deemed popular and safe do so...AKA a trend.
I dare a Sam Smith or an Adele to, consistently, call out blatant racism the same way David Bowie dragged MTV back in the day.
#Brits2020
After all the discourse I witnessed over the last two days, I just hope you all don’t vote for the Labour or Conservative Party in the next GE.
To reward them with a vote is to validate their racism, misogynoir and lust for genocide.
We are now in a world where Dr. Umar is schooling men with podcasts about their responsibilities as Black Men...and he's making points.

Watching Buying London (Netflix) in this economy makes you realise just how much money this country historically hordes.
Over 600 years of cumulative property wealth in central London, meanwhile everyone else in this city is struggling 😩
This is it. Either do better or just embrace your mediocrity and go.
But instead, it's a whole entire black woman's hormone levels you want to play Jenga with in order to maintain your privilege.
Wotless. Disgusting. Violent.
It's sad to see our West Indian and African siblings do the heavy lifting when it comes to climate change, meanwhile, most of us can't get past the 'inconvenience' of a small protest.

And respectfully, this is what we're trying to articulate when we critique the Labour Party.
It isn't necessarily about the Greens winning. We know the change that we want wont come in 41 days. It's about:
✅Knowing that we HAVE options outside the 2 main parties
✅Matching
@funkomi
Too many people don't draw a clear line when it comes to issues like genocide or the obvious contempt for Black people. If we did, voting for the Labour Party would never be an option.
I don't expect the Greens to win, but we have seen a significant shift in political engagement
do you remember the first ever career you wanted to pursue? i wanted to be a radio presenter + Garage MC (don't ask). Young T was aspirational to say the least 😂
'I travelled around the Caribbean for years, visited many street food vendors and, as a chief, I wanted to share Caribbean food with you.'
But it's cheddar cheesy beef patties you want to serve to the masses.

The issue I have with the Cardi trademark situation is that it's another example of cishet people co-opting and/or commodifying Black Queer/Trans language without knowing where it comes from.

Let’s be honest. Mary J Blige didn’t make these Giuseppes for you, she made them for people that have that Giuseppe money.

She’s not Rihanna.
If the Green Party wants more Black and Brown members, councilors and voters, they've got some serious work to do.
Forcing someone to apologise for speaking peaceful words in Arabic isn't going to win hearts and minds.
In fact, it simply fuels (the already high levels of)

forcing Mothin to apologise is disappointing and a major setback to the party's work so far.
With our success in the local elections, mainstream media will no doubt switch gears to push back on us.

has evolved *so* much more from what I just watched.
Why weren’t these perspectives linked to the racism we still face today? Why wasn’t colourism a part of the discussion? Why is there only one perspective from a dark skin Black women?
It took off, but never landed.

There's definitely a race/socioeconomic intersection in veganism that's rarely discussed in the wider vegan community. But my biggest question for vegans is how can you campaign so much for animal rights but not have the same energy for the most marginalised people in the world?
Outside of churches, in London, Dalston, Brixton, Peckham, New Cross (and more) all had multiple Black-owned hubs that were vital for our community to survive in this country, let alone thrive.
Community centres, nightclubs, bookshops, activist centres…all gone!

I have never taken to this genre for this exact same reason.
Like, we know the roots of this genre yet people still jump online to kiki hehe haha about it.
@BelloNotBelow
Some gays are obsessed with outing people. There's this archaic preconceived notion that we "just know" who's what and to be the first to say "I told you so".
It's actually very violent behaviour.
I think it's important to refrain from the WW3 jokes, particularly on social media.
People have already died and more will in the future.
We're witnessing a watershed moment between these two neighbouring countries - it's not a "what if?" situation anymore, it's "what now?".
They cooked me in the quotes 😂 But like I said, in the 7 years I’ve been watching the pod, I’ve seen no evidence of bullying. Who in their right mind is gonna sit on a pod and get bullied for 7 years?
How are you making up stories with no clue on what goes on in the background?
The fact that Tolly, a dark skin black woman, is instantly labelled a bully after Milena abruptly leaves, with no evidence to support these allegations, shows just how mad some of you are.

But it’s vital that we own property and organise in them offline if we want to change anti-Black policy and systems that govern our lives and to build a society that’s centred around communities thriving.

I hate to say it, but I have the same feeling now that I did prior to the 2016 referendum; a large demographic of uninformed people will move mad and ruin everything. 😕

elections were record breaking for the Green Party and support for us is growing.💚

It’s not like they’re influencing general election voting behaviour. People are so extra.

My new neighbours next door moved in on Friday. They’re currently unpacking and have played Luther Vandross, Patti LaBelle and Janet Jackson albums back to back, on full blast. They’re currently halfway through Whitney’s second album.
I think we’ll get along just fine ☺️
Theme for events are for everyone to explore their creativity and ultimately to have *fun* and enjoy the event!
Men really need to free themselves from the limitations hegemonic masculinity 😩
Themes are mainly for women, its hard for men to follow certain themes like what are men gonna wear that’s fairytale and folkore to a gala in october? U dress like sango or zeus and ur gonna leave the place with flu
Two years ago, I never would have thought that I'd be ordering Covid test kits online on a weekly basis.
I still find it bizarre that we are where we are.

It may seem like we can’t do much individually to push back against the silencing if BW on these apps, but if we consistently turn up & be present with our support, they have to listen!

Literally rewriting policy to stay in power - disgusting!
Nah, I have to laugh and go and enjoy my weekend because if I don't, I'll actually sit here and cry tears 😩
If you ask your fiancée to be more involved in wedding plans and his response is “I don’t know why I should be”, is this the man that you should be serving dinner on real plates to?

On top of being very socially awkward, my date then broke out in hives halfway through dinner and had to leave.
On the plus side, when he left I pulled out my Kindle to read the rest of my book while I continued my main meal, ordered dessert and finished the bottle of wine.
There’s no denying the effectiveness of online platforms (as a means to gather ourselves, educate, inspire and inform our community) and the hard work of the Black people (usually Black women) who create, curate and manage these online spaces.
