My grands met at Shaw University as students, 1940s. He graduated before her, and my grandma went to NY in the summers to make dresses. Her last summer he begged her not to go for fear that she wouldn’t come back, she promised she would, they got married Thanksgiving Day 1950.

Without giving them any credit, i think we just make it look hard.
But we are naturally attached to trauma just by the whole black experience. We are bringing those traumas together. It’s hard to compare.
