I can confirm that I’ve spoken to President Trump’s new interim FEMA Director, @FEMA_Cam, multiple times this week. I honestly cannot say enough good things about him. Not only did he apologize for the ways in which the agency failed the people of Western North Carolina, but he offered creative solutions on how to fix them. To his credit, he asked us to organize a Zoom call with victims who had poor experiences with FEMA, from small issues to large. He listened to them for over an hour and a half. He never interrupted. He never made excuses. He listened. He apologized and he offered solutions. At the end of every phone call he said the same thing, “I am a civil servant, I work for you.” That’s rare to hear anymore in a world so full of egos, in government especially. I have high hopes for Cameron. He’s smart, empathetic, and creative in his thinking. If the agency does continue to exist, I believe there is no one better to run FEMA than Cameron Hamilton.
