I cannot, for the life of me, understand why trotters will race for $150,000 and pacers for $500,000 in the new Interdoms. Why such disparity? In New Zealand at least, especially in Auckland, trotters are a huge part of the industry.

JUST IN: Andy Gath has just been notified that the Inter Dominion Council and HRNZ have agreed to let McLovin be put in the fields for the 2nd round of heats on Tuesday.
Horse is already showing significant improvement and Gath expects him to line up come Tuesday.

Looking back now... Tiger Tara was so unlucky to get sprint-laned in the NZ Cup by the only horse in the race that could possibly peg him back. Otherwise he’d have just done the quadruple crown (Vic, Hunter, Inter, NZ).

On a half-mile track in a Group 1 with a hot tempo, parked outside a fellow champion, I don't think it is possible for a horse to go any better than Lazarus did here. Has to be the greatest performance by any standardbred anywhere of all time.

Nathan & Michael Purdon (sons of Mark) are moving to Auckland permanently to train in June.
They'll be based with uncle Barry Purdon, taking 5 horses, & there is every likelihood the trio will form a p/ship next season.
