Merlin at RSPB Greylake today. Even knowing what was going to happen, I just froze when I saw it. Also, a water rail 3m away from the hide, lots of snipes, and some really angry crows @Natures_Voice

@WayneGlossop2 @BirdGuides That light looks unbelievably, unnaturally bright. You twitchers could have permanently damaged the owl's vision like that, not even talking about disturbing it. Are you proud of yourself?

@RobRackliffe Stop disturbing wildlife. If I got unlucky and I was on my bike when a torch got shone in my face like that, I'd crash. This is not birdwatching, this is birdscaring

@nature_michelle @Mark_Vidler84 Shining a light like that in my face at night might cause temporary blindness, possibly followed by a high-speed bike crash. I hope it has moved to private land now

Will whoever took these STOP disturbing the bird?!
There have been many images posted of the Eurasian Scops Owl at Broadstairs, Kent being illuminated by torches. Does anyone care for the welfare of the Owl and is the use of torch really ethical? Anyone like to comment on pictures like this (NOT my images) ? @Natures_Voice

For those people shining torches at a rare scops owl in Kent, please stop and leave the bird alone. If you have any respect for the owl, you will either leave it alone or observe it during the day @RareBirdAlertUK

@SmalePerry @SimonWest26 @RareBirdAlertUK @BirdGuides Shining a light at this poor owl is the same as throwing rocks at eagles in attempt to get them to fly

Two male hen harriers seen at Roydon Common this afternoon, and a female merlin that for once wasn't a dot in the distance. Lots of red kites as well @NorfolkWT

Today at the Cottenham site I did indeed see the burgomaster gull in low flight, but my camera's auto-focus failed me. Instead, I saw red kites and the monstrous great black-backed gulls (my first-ever photos), and also a MASSIVE starling murmuration!! @CambsBirdClub

@Laziobirder @CambsBirdClub Same place? I'm honestly amazed it did not disappear in the windstorm
