Couldn't agree more and a thing that I want to add here is Korean sociology is not that different. I guess sociology in other countries might be similar. This stubborn "methodological homelandism" (from George Steinmetz) feels like an essential part of sociology across the globe.
I know a lot of us can feel this way in sociology more generally: too parochial, does not care about non-US cases. It doesn’t have to be that way.
