@joachim_voth This is consistent with "strength of importance of work norms" explaining people's likelihood of applying for disability insurance in response to job loss (a bit of self promotion):

@MrLadyBug_ You can apply to our program straight from undergrad. While most of our students come with a Master's degree, some of our best students start directly after finishing their undergraduate degrees.

@AlonMuhame Not knowing anything about your application, I will say that students who are not offered admission in one do get admitted the next. Often it's because they gain more research experience, take math classes, increase GRE scores, etc. Good luck!

@mikekofoed Last week, I gave a general talk about immigration at UVA. I ran into a student after the talk and asked if she learned anything new, found anything particularly surprising, etc. Her answer: this 60% statistic! (I was a bit disappointed it wasn't my healthcare workforce stuff.)

@kerri_raissian @JoshGoodman_BU @UConnSPP I had no idea that so many students experienced a death of a classmate. Of course this would have real consequences on learning outcomes. Very depressing talk but also really important results. Thank you @JoshGoodman_BU for coming and @kerri_raissian for making it happen.
