Replaced it with this in partnership with another farm…all work together and pool some of our equipment doing 3 farms including covering bunks👍🏻…so fun getting together for the social…Dion was great too just couldn’t keep up to doing 13 bunks…working together is the way!

We own the triples, packing equipment, 50% of chopper and 2 trailers, neighbour owns 50% of chopper, tedder, rake and 1 trailer, nephew owns merger
All is fantastic! We even have other neighbours that help with bunks and we help with theirs…we don’t even do their work👍🏻👍🏻

Exactly why we designed our maternity area like this is because of that 48 hour policy you are talking about Ian…mothers have access to their calves for 72 hours but no chance of them getting layed on either👍🏻

1988 DeLaval Dbl 12 herringbone model here…milked 200 with it 2x daily until 2002 when 50 went to our other farm with the robots…last used Dec 6 ,2019…I think it is 2 dbl 6’s now up toward Drayton👍🏻

I know lots of guys with simple tie stalls and parlours…no automation other than takeoffs that are loving life too…guarantee they aren’t running around feeling udders that are potentially milked half assed …again ask questions to the basic needs of what’s best for the cow

Ours is natural with curtains and a bag…cold barn without being out in the elements….controlled by Maximus including sidewall fans for summer…calves from 3 days to 5 months get 40 degree hard water at their waterers to push intakes

Ya it was impressive yield…we couldn’t believe it…we want to make sure the trit gets in first week of Sept…wheat can get planted later into CS ground IMO
We floated 100 lbs of N on it early…pushed it like a crop not a cover crop..dealing with root balls is a problem though

I’ve had bankers tell us that we should sell the quota and invest in Stocks and make life easy for ourselves…we all know that if it comes easy…then can go easy! Keep doing what you’re doing out there gang…99.9% of the population needs you👍🏻
