It’s taken a while to find the words - I’m still not sure I have them. Laura was an incredible colleague and example for women pursuing careers in civil service. She was patient, smart, collaborative, hardworking. Everyone who got to know her mourns this loss. She will be missed.
On behalf of a grateful city, I offer condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of former deputy mayor Laura Anglin, a true public servant who worked tirelessly on operations and helped manage challenging crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic. May she rest in peace.

I understand why in these moments we lean toward extreme examples of rape, incest and dangerous pregnancies, but sometimes an abortion is for no other reason than the pregnancy is unwanted. Sometimes (often) the choice isn’t hard or haunting. And that’s okay too.

Dan always finds the words, even when we’re all so fucking tired of words.
I was 9 when Columbine happened. Shortly thereafter, an issue of Time Magazine came out that had photos of the victims on the cover. I remember studying their faces— most of them teenagers— and crying. I didn’t understand how such an awful thing could happen.
