Seasons 2, 3, and 4, went from the titles to Mileven.
Season 1's pilot ended with Mileven.
Mileven also closed the S2 finale--we leave Hawkins in 2 with them kissing and return to Hawkins in 3 with them kissing more.

Looking back, ST2 is a miracle. The Duffers didn't really plan for a sequel, and wrote it on the fly, turning it around in only 1 year.
And much of it hinged on the ability of 13-year-olds to deliver a gutting portrayal of PTSD, grief, and fidelity. Finn and Millie crushed it.

Mike realized his girlfriend loved him back, which his self-esteem could barely process because of how in awe he is of her (if this wasn’t clear from 3, he says it throughout season 4). So yes, this realization was completely about Mileven.
That's not what they meant. Mike didn't kiss back, he was surprised and his eyes were open. After El left, Mike has a look of confusion which means he realized smt ab himself.
(Not that it's related to either Byler or Mileven, more to his character as a whole)

So true, and it’s even better that the original script called for Mike to be carrying El (scrapped bc Finn wasn’t strong enough to carry Millie). Part of Mike’s arc in S1 was finding strength to stand up for himself and others—symbolized by strength to carry her at her weakest.
I think this moment that lasts only a few seconds is not just a symbol for Mileven and how far they came in such a short amount of time, but separately as well.. El who shied away from human contact was able to trust Mike so completely+feel like she belonged somewhere+Mike...

This has been lined up since Season 1. One of the core DnD metaphors is that the Party is easy for enemies to take out, one by one, when they're not working together. It's a big reason why the plans in Season 4 mostly didn't work.
On the other side we have Vecna, who is currently weakened, reeling from his own defeat and...angry.
Vecna is able to read people's minds and prey on their weaknesses and insecurities, so you have to wonder if he will be smart enough to try and divide and conquer.
