@il0venostalgia
yes, for sure. I am not against tech but it's moving too fast, and we are not looking at the ramifications of that. The smart phone is one of the most amazing inventions ever, but it is seriously hurting this young generation. As an educator I see it every day.
@fjp6657
Don't be so quick to blame the teacher for not intervening in this fight. Most states have strict laws that prohibit the teacher from touching a student. They could be fired or go to jail for doing so. Sounds crazy buts its true
@lisahsmithlhs
They were funny and great cartoons. Never did they make me consider violence. Even as kids we were smart enough to know they were cartoons and not real life.
I am not against electric cars, but as a technician and old car enthusiast, I am going to miss these beautiful fire breathing works of art and engineering. The unique sound and raw power of a finely tuned American made V8 cannot be topped.
Who remembers pulling up to one of these old gas stations? 3 attendants came out, one pumped your gas for you, one cleaned your windshield & headlights, & the other checked the air in your tires & checked your engine oil level. And gas was less than 50 cents per gallon!
My first paying job was driving an ice cream truck similar to this from town to town, selling ice cream bars to the kids. I was 15 years old & did not have a driver's license. Truck owner asked if I knew how to drive a stick shift. I said yes. He never asked if I had a license.

Gee, when I want new clothes, I have to use my hard-earned money, but they just take what they want for free. Must be that privilege I have that they keep talking about.
@gggirl924
Yes, I think about that all the time. No seatbelts in cars, riding in the back of a pickup truck. Swinging on tree vines over the river. Jumping off rock cliffs into the water, roller skating on the road with clamp on skates. Somehow, I made and never even broke a bone.
@gnuman1979
I have old cables, many eight track tapes, 16 mm film reels, crate of VHS tapes, cabinet full of 45 and 33-1/3 rpm records and undeveloped 35mm film.
Been racking my brain all morning trying to come up with a valid excuse to not go outside and rake the leaves in my yard. So far all I got was a headache. Oh wait, that's it! I have a headache. Valid excise found! Sorry leaves, you loose.

Tesla is an amazing piece of clever engineering. I was a professional automotive technician for over 50 years and now teach automotive technology. I was always fascinated with machines that used unique technology and appreciated machines that exhibited high quality. Thats Tesla
@TS_WorldTravel
Okay article except when I got to the part about jump starting a dead battery. Your article stated that once a battery has been drained, it cannot be recharged & used like before. It will need to be replaced. That is simply not true. The cars alternator charges the battery fine.
@WowTerrifying
Commercial planes fly on instruments, it's called IFR (instrument flight rules) Small planes fly VFR (visual flight rules) but can fly IFR if equipped. Landings are mostly automated as airports have automated landing systems. Instruments are more reliable than our human senses.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN TOMORROW IS MONDAY! What happened to thanksgiving break? I still have things that need done that I need to ignore and there is still turkey left in the fridge.

When employed an automotive technician, if we had a day that was -15 below zero, that was a day with gas engine cars being towed in all day as they would not start. And then the diesel-powered ones would have their fuel lines gelled up. Electrics don't have this problem.

I had a similar experience from a student today. He came to me and said his mother wanted to know how he could improve his grade in my class. I told him simply to stay off his cell phone and his grade was sure to get better. He said okay. Did he stay off his phone? No he did not.
This is me after someone reminded me that Sunday is over which means tomorrow is Monday which also means I will have to get my lazy butt out of bed at 5am to go to work! What happened to my Weekend?
Question: How many of you knew that auto technicians have to buy their own tools and toolboxes to work in their trade? Next question: How much money do you think the average professional auto technician has invested in his toolbox and tools?
I pulled out a few of my old 45's and made believe I was back in the 60's and 70's. Life was so much simpler then. And a thing called common sense was still alive!
Back in the day when I was in school, this was our "google" If you were lucky your parents had a set of Encyclopedias in your home, if not then one had to walk to the nearest library. Getting information for your homework papers took some time, but it was factual and well written
@gggirl924
Yes, as a young lad it was a great little store. Wooden floors that squeaked and glass counters chock full of penny candy and nine flavors of ice cream at the soda bar fountain.
I took my grandkids to a toy store & told them I would buy them anything in the store with one condition. It had to be made in America. After over an hour of shopping the only thing they could find made in the USA, was a box of Crayola crayons. Most of the toys were made in China

Thats one of the craziest analogies I have ever heard. Spin it any crazy way you want but "Thou shall not kill". It cannot be any simpler than that.
@wiseconnector
Love, pure unselfish love that has no earthy limits. Loving and knowing with absolute certainty that person loves you back with the same intensity and devotion. That kind of love beats sex and even beats a free Peanut Buster Parfait. But alas a free Parfait is much easier to find
Me, trying to figure out how I can get all the "likes"" and follows" from real people on "X", just like the tons of them the ones I get from Bots and fake people. Hmmm?
@Oldtimers365
Oh, I have a lot of those regrets for selling. 1967 Camaro convertible, 1967 Mustang fastback, 1963 Chevy Impala convertible, 1963 Ford Galaxie, Triumph Spitfire, Honda 90 Dream, Honda 305 Super Hawk, 1971 Torino 351 Cleveland, 1958 Chevy Impala convertible and more!
I figured out how to keep the grandkids from eating all my French vanilla ice cream. I put the ice cream in empty Mayo jars. It's fun to see them get grossed out when the see me eating what they think is Mayo right out of the jar. Life's simple pleasures!

Just how would you change the system to keep that from happening? Only allow social workers or nuns on a police force ? Those rioters look for any reason to act out like that, they are not protesting a cause. The system that tolerates & allows this lawlessness is what needs fixed
@PopHemingway
Starting from the right, the small round pedal was to engage the starter, then the gas pedal, the brake pedal, the clutch pedal and the little round button on the floor was for high and low beams.
@gggirl924
Yes, I think about all the now considered dangerous things I did when I was young. Riding in the back of a pickup truck, sledding down a big hill on a car hood, roller skating on the road, swinging on tree vines into the river, etc. Somehow, I survived,
@GioBruno1600
When employed as an auto technician I once had a lady that thought the symbol for the fresh air vent looked like a purse, so she would pull out that knob & hang her purse on it and could not figure out why cold air was blasting in on her feet. She thought it was a purse holder.
