@BellBeakerBloke A foreign faith? Britain was Catholic for over 1000years, our Cathedrals and ancient Universities were built by Catholics, our ancient Kings were Catholic… St George was Catholic. King Alfred was Catholic, St Thomas Beckett was Catholic. St Augustine of Canterbury was Catholic.

An ill thought out document is imposed by the DDF (because the Synod on synodality failed to ask for it as was planned) and in a couple of days relations with the Orthodox have gone back a decade, Africa has rebelled and there is dismay everywhere. Austria is delighted though.

@holysmoke I’ve heard some people say “well if you were in another job and you disagreed with your boss you’d be sacked”. But this is such nonsense. In another job you’d have a pension plan, and your own house.. which you would keep. You’d normally also have employment rights…

@calvinrobinson I don’t think anyone denies that the C of E had Catholic roots… but they are roots that Henry VIII broke from, and the CofE has pretty consistently moved further away ever since. If you cut a branch off a tree it survives for a while.. but eventually runs out of sap and withers.

In light of recent disruption in England, as a Catholic, I think there are two guiding filters . 1) Christianity is true… so any ideology that draws people away from Catholicism is wrong. 2) All people are created in the image and likeness of God ..so racism is wrong

Steven Mailen is the first person to be sentenced in Teesside for his involvement in the violent disorder in Hartlepool on Wednesday 31st July. Judge Laird jailed him for 26 months. The 53-year-old was constantly in the face of officers gesticulating and shouting at them.

Dutch government policy that permits involuntary #euthanasia of terminally ill children up to 12 years of age started today. Policy is said to apply in exceptional cases of v serious terminal illness & expected to be used in 5 to 10 cases per year.

Let’s be fair here… sacrilege took place at both (now Anglican but originally Catholic) Canterbury Cathedral and St Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral New York. St Patrick’s have apologised for, Canterbury has doubled down on, the sacrilege. One is lost, one still has hope!
