Saint Patrick downs rival Niles Notre Dame 40-38 in dynamic fashion. Senior guard Austin Freeman converted the two go ahead free throws to put the Shamrocks in the lead late.
The student section played a huge part that night as they rattled the visiting Dons.

The Shamrocks face Carmel Friday with the chance to be four-peat Regional Champions. Last time that happened?
’02-’06 under Bailey. And before that? ’61-’65 under legendary coach Max Kurland, beginning only three years into his tenure.
That’s a winning history and culture.

W or L tomorrow the program is being taken to new heights. The future is very bright. I expect in a few years to be consistently ranked in the top of Chicago area schools and go toe to toe with the best of the CCL and competing for top spot in the ESCC.

Illinois Basketball Fact: Coach Mike Bailey was sharing an amazing fact with a group of coaches a few days ago; Chicago St. Pat's High School since the 1959-60 season (65 yrs. ago) has had only 2 varsity coaches, Max Kurland (1959-1994) & Mike Bailey (1994-to the present).

If we want to talk about someone who instantly stabilizes the team we should talk about RJ McPartlin. The sophomore comes into the game and is a bucket down low. He hustles and provides a big frame in the lane. You can see the basketball IQ in his eyes. He’s a smart baller.

Carmel was defending a state title and carried a 22 game win streak. The ’Rocks trailed 19-0, but put up 20 unanswered points to stun Carmel in a heavy downpour of rain. A late 4th down conversion secured the win.

One of the biggest off-season additions this year has been junior Cooper Kavanaugh from Mount Carmel. Kavanaugh, when not getting the starting nod, can come off the bench and instantly electrify the game with his 3-point shooting. He seems to be very coachable and calm, too.

Mr. Craine was the best history teacher I’ve ever had, even compared to my college professors. He has a very engaging teaching style that encourages critical thinking. He places his students in the best position to handle collegiate level history.
Upon closure of the 2022-2023 school year, we would like to recognize Mr. Dave Craine as the Distinguished Lasallian Educator of the Year!

There are ~580 schools in the Missouri State High School Activities Association, and they have 6 classes for basketball.
There are ~780 schools in the Illinois High School Association, and we have only 4 classes for basketball.
