Our public school revenue is about $14k per kid and is subject to heavy regulations/mandates while the good private schools charge $20k-$30k per student with no state mandates. Private schools do amazing work but that’s not true competition. That’s not an even playing field.

I actually love private schools. I think they do amazing work! I just think everyone selling SB2 as “school choice” is misleading people. It doesn’t change the fact there will be wealthy schools and poor schools.

@Gosset41 @AledoMBB @JoaquinPac1 They kept saying you can’t be a football AND basketball school. When the job opened up we set out to prove people wrong. Incredibly thankful Coach Blackburn decided to come to Aledo! He truly loves the game and his team loves him!

If we are going to compare the amount of money public schools receive now vs the money private schools receive under SB2 then we also need to compare the regulations and mandates. If you want real competition, then create REAL competition.

@wesvirdelltx You would agree that heavy regulations on business leads to increased costs and does not lead to a better economic environment? So why not take some of the regulations off public schools to help create a better environment for kids?

Do I think this helps the Mavs win? Yes! Am I going to spend money to go watch Anthony Davis? Ummm, NO! Luka is box office, but I’ve never been convinced he’s leading us to a championship.

@TheDunkCentral @dpshow @BASKETBALLonX This guys has been awful for the league. Viewership is down. They don’t advertise their stars. They empowered the players to the point where they feel like they don’t have to play most of the season. Ticket prices are out of control. Really sad.

So after holding teachers hostage for 2 years because vouchers failed, Texas politicians seem fine knowing that if vouchers pass it will cause the Teacher Retirement System to collapse. They must think their AI system that can’t even grade STAAR is going to teach our kids.

Texas politicians have spent years telling us how government subsidies for wind and solar have hurt the oil and gas industry. Texas politicians are now trying to convince us government subsidies for private schools won’t hurt public schools. If the government is involved you better know the big donors are making money, and everyone else is losing money.

If Texas had teachers unions my out of pocket deductible wouldn’t be $5,000. There are no Teachers Unions in Texas, only associations.
