It's not. I worked in aviation supply and the amount of paperwork and stringent testing and re-testing with near expiration dates on aviation related stuff is crazy. That is why we don't see a lot of mechanical failure in airplanes. Also part of why it's such a massive deal when it came out that Boeing was using stuff out of the discard bin when in a pinch.
