Losing somebody slowly, in little increments, feels debilitating to you also. Watching someone who was always the funniest person in the room sort of shrink away into themselves, get slower, lose their optimism. It's horrible.

I've had this kind of "the nukes are coming" dream before, I think it's my brain processing the real life sound of an aeroplane landing. It's actually amazing how the mind can put together a narrative like that from outside stimulus in what seems to be an instant in the dream.
