This will be slammed but is very good news. MP pay has been held back to the point where we are not attrcting the right calibre of person, and the temptation to corruption or influencing for donors increases. Singapore got this right, buy ensuring MPs were well paid.

@Mallard143 @pinstripedline @NavyLookout Not with 1,000 guys, you need a heavy repair facility. You can do damage control to reduce flooding and control fires, and repair damaged systems.

@Mallard143 @pinstripedline @NavyLookout You can't fix a hole in the hull with a crew aboard either.

@Mallard143 @pinstripedline @NavyLookout They operate as loyal wingman - i.e. in a flotilla with mothership. Damage control can be automated (self healing systems are being developed that print replacement parts) and conducted by skeleton crew to begin with and then backed up with parties flown in from mothership.

@Mallard143 @pinstripedline @NavyLookout They don't need to be as suvivable, and they will be as good as OPVs or MCMVs. Both USN and RAN have also committed to the type recently.

@Mallard143 @pinstripedline @NavyLookout You have a small crew, say 8 persons, who maintain systems, pilot in congested harbours and conduct RAS etc. Not rocket science.

@Chris__Sage Nobody is pretending, most believe that it did, but without compelling evidence its difficult to confirm. None of this justifies pandering to Beijing now.
