Excited to be joining @womensaid as CEO next week but horrified at news of @riseuk & 3 @scotwomensaid services losing local authority funding to non-specialist providers. Stats make clear domestic abuse isn’t gender neutral, women are dying & we have to protect women’s refuges

Angel Lynn is now suffering from brain damage but her abuser could walk free in 2 yrs. This sends out a dangerous message about how seriously we take violence against women — judges need to send a clear message that domestic abuse will not be tolerated.

A clear message of the epidemic of #violenceagainstwomen in the online abuse when tagged with @jessphillips discussing #endingviolenceagainstwomenandgirls Shocking but not surprising. We must end #VAWG & @womensaid & so many others will not stop until this is achieved💜

It was great to speak at the Women and Equalities Committee earlier today about the impact that the rising cost-of-living has on survivors and our member organisations. Proud to be along side @nicolajanesharp & @TSB making the case survivors &services.

I spoke to @itvnews about the dire situation the increased cost of living is leaving women and children in. The crisis is leaving survivors feeling like there is no hope while pushing life-saving services to breaking point. We must act now.

Well, you do what you can to keep the kids occupied with inner-city-London levels of snow in lockdown. Small in stature but huge amounts of cute I think. 💜

The end of the week & end of the first part of the journey to justice. #DABill has finally become law. After 2 general elections, prorogation of parliament, & a pandemic, this shows the determination & resilience of survivors & @womensaid specialist domestic abuse organisations👊🏽

Very pleased to have donated to @rednoseday2021 at my kid’s school today! She gets to wear red, the funds go to a great set of causes, including #DomesticAbuse and I have one less uniform to process. Great wins all round in an otherwise troubled week...

How did we go from the @DFID_UK Secretary of State stating the need for an independent DFID a month ago to the @CommonsIDC -to PM’s announcement to scrap DFID? Perplexed to the logic of abolishing our greatest asset against disease& poverty at most acute time of disease & poverty

That a brilliant specialist service as @riseuk is facing substantive cuts to core services for victim-survivors of domestic abuse is shocking & unacceptable. The impact will be devastating & life saving services left unsustainable. This cannot continue. @risejogo we are with you.

Not the finest reflection on our society if the government de facto consigns a woman to danger, abuse, harm and suffering because of her immigration status. I can’t think of anyone who thinks that reflects our society’s values. Government needs to show moral leadership here. 👇🏽
