Answer thread: Reviews power eCommerce sales. Products do not sell unless they have at least 4 stars and hundreds of reviews. If a product has greater than 4 stars and thousands of reviews it sells even more. (1/10)

This unethical behavior by Amazon is not anything new. It is well documented that they allow fake reviews and counterfeit in their marketplace, copy popular products like All Birds and pass them off as their own invention, and blame everyone but themselves for their issues.

We made a commitment to consumers to always have their backs, no matter what, and we meant it. We are a consumer-centric service and our biggest sin was revealing the truth about online purchases to our users. Amazon is trying to punish us for that.
