Each time my pastor called out the sick for prayers, I'd step forward, holding onto my chest, anticipating healing. When they urged us to "do what you couldn't do," I'd take deep breaths, hopeful that the pain would fade away. I repeated this at every service until I felt okay.🥹

For me, I’d say both. My gospel experience out of a black church growing up had to do with a lot of fear. Fear of God, demons, war. Etc.discovering worship out of white churches helped me see a relationship, rest, stillness. Things are way better now in black churches. Thank God
