OUR STATEMENT: The Foreign Press Association, Africa registers its displeasure against media outlets using images of black people alongside stories of the #monkeypox outbreak in North America and the United Kingdom.

We demand the immediate return of Mr. Soyinka’s passport, an apology to him, and an end to any further harassment disguised as further questioning. We also call for full transparency from the DSS and other government agencies regarding the circumstances of his arrest.

Speaking to Kenya's @KTNNewsKE, Thursday, in light of police attacks against journalists covering youth protests, our Chair @KennedyWandera_ underscored the need to respect journalists, highlighting the media's crucial role in facilitating public engagement with the government.

OUR STATEMENT: The Foreign Press Association, Africa unequivocally condemns the alarming and reprehensible actions of Kenya’s security forces during the recent protests in Nairobi. The blatant use of excessive force, particularly against journalists, is completely unacceptable.
