@eyewitness0_0 @72seanmcnamara @MattMcGahey05 @KyleKulinski Yes, because HIV is a worldwide issue, and the US understands (or understood) that a rising tide lifts all ships. Reducing worldwide HIV numbers helps the US directly as the premier economy of the entire planet.

@ByWayOfNebraska @chzhedz150412 @ghosy01 @elonmusk Can't imagine someone targeting an agency with such a solid track record fighting financial fraud when there are SO MANY examples of tax abuse by the people who are dismantling the CFPB You're basically saying yes, make financial fraud legal please

@kojothebrojo @KyleKulinski If you think Bernie's politics are the same as Biden/Kamala, then you are sorely and severely mistaken

@ByWayOfNebraska @chzhedz150412 @ghosy01 @elonmusk The CFPB seems like a VERY strange hill to die on, since it protected consumers and held large financial institutions accountable. Tell me, why do you think big banks lobbied Trump to exempt them from CFPB oversight in 2018? To help the lil guy???

@ByWayOfNebraska @chzhedz150412 @ghosy01 @elonmusk What is even your argument here? That this should be done but under different agencies? What would that change? This was one of the best government programs by the numbers that was more than paying for itself. Eliminating the CFPD means you want financial fraud to proliferate

@stupidtechtakes At this point I'm not even entirely sure Elon knows what SQL is or how utterly ubiquitous it is. Inb4 he says "the govt doesn't use SQL, it uses MySQL (or some other variant)" and pretends he was just being pedantic or that it matters

@eyewitness0_0 @72seanmcnamara @MattMcGahey05 @KyleKulinski The point is he shouted "$50 million in condoms to Hamas" and was completely wrong and obviously ragebaiting and distracting from reality. He doesn't care about the truth, he wants to rile up the mob against his opponents.

@CrowdPlzr @zoenone0none Dude you will not address the core of the issue. They helped citizens against predatory and fraudulent activity, and they were successful. $780 million annual budget, and on average returned $1.54 billion a year to consumers, 21 billion of 13 years What was bad here? Explain it

@CrowdPlzr @zoenone0none Wait, you think Big Banking controls the CFPB??? Big Banking ended overdraft fee structuring and amounts? Big Banking wanted medical debt off of credit scores? Big Banking wanted to repay 21 billion to defrauded consumers? Big Banking wanted to pay 5 billion in fraud penalties?

@DKeesy @zoenone0none Or maybe have an oversight agency that prevents fraud and protects users in the first place? This is some "Well if you get murdered, just move out of the neighborhood" ass shit lol

@Neil_Bloch @zoenone0none Your main recourse before was individual lawsuits, hoping for a decent class-action, or that legislation would be made. The fact that the CFPB was created shows how effective and easy those were.

@CrowdPlzr @zoenone0none Even if that's true, just give them oversight. This is like saying firefighters should be abolished because no one is overseeing them.
