So my neighbour kids come running to me: Mama Theo! Mama Theo! Can we see him?
I tell them he’s sleeping but I can let you peep his crib. They come in and do seconds-long glances & one says: oh he’s so tiny.
Another chimes: But not as tiny as the slug 🐌 we saw just now 😅🤣
Friends, let me share with you how a health story I did
@dailynation
in 2015 contributed to yesterday’s landmark ruling by the Milimani High Court on access to safe abortion as provided by the Kenya law.
A thread.
We are failing doctors, nurses, clinical officers and all our health care workers risking their lives to provide care during the pandemic.
Each life lost is too heavy, unnecessary and a failure on our part to protect them.
RIP Dr Stephen Mogusu 😢

God has and is truly Faithful. Seven years later, I have grown in
#storytelling
in ways I never imagined. I have had the opportunity to be at places and platforms I never thought were possible.
In 2007, as a candidate in a Msa district school, I banked on ‘work hard to go to Uni.’ Yet, I didn’t know anyone from my family/school who had been to uni. With the A-, I joined
@uonbi
& it changed my life. Whatever the

result may it bring hope to candidates, families.
As we start
#BreastfeedingWeek
here are 7 things I learnt:
1. Breast milk doesn’t come immediately the baby is born, for me it took two days
2. The first week of breastfeeding was so painful 😓 there was bleeding involved as baby & I were learning how to do it
How I’ve been responding to peeps who say my cheeks have become more round.
Me: Round (er) cheeks are a sign of happiness, so I must be doing something right. I’m enjoying life and taking care of myself. 😅

Lol, read this and had to confirm that we’ve never met before. Totally read like what I went through...sijui 7 years...😂😂😂 but then I met an amazing kind soul who makes me so so happy. I look at him and I know this is what I was being prepared for 🥰
Joy is hearing from two different people, who you walked with to help review their CV/Cover letters, apply for Comms jobs, prepare for interviews and hearing them get the job offers!
Joy that God is in the neighborhood.

Story…story?
In yesterday’s
@DNHealthyNation
I did an in-depth story about Baby Jeremy who was born too soon. Four months (not nine as expected) and too little (400g). He was delivered on the afternoon of April 1

What I’m learning about working from home:
1. Wake up early as you normally would
2. Shower and dress up.
3. Have a to-do list.
4. Eat and hydrate.
4. Take breaks from the
#COVID19
#coronavirus
updates, it can overwhelming
5. Step outside for a little bit of air.
So the past 54 hours I was a mentor
@techstarsN
My role: Walk with 9 teams to help them refine their innovative ideas and to answer the why, what and how questions.
1. What problem are you addressing.
2. Why is this solution important.
3. How will your solution work?
Earlier this month, our neighbours in Lower Kabete lost their six-months old son due to choking. It was so shocking and tragic.
Hearing that Nazizi lost her son is so sad and heartbreaking.
For parents (and children) mourning, may you find the grace and strength in this season.
My husband is in a Zoom class and discovers he has ‘lipstick’.
Not his doing.
I set up a filter feature—Studio Effects— on Zoom for lipstick and eyebrows, for those days when you dash into very early/late meetings.
I completely forgot about it until today.

it’s been over 7 hours. The panic and the fear. Those who are unwell in there, low sugars, high blood pressure, and anxiety. Low batteries and scared families. Dear God. Watch over all of them.
A story idea I recommended—on Aging with HIV in Kenya—has been shortlisted as one of two winners of the Untold Global Health Stories of 2020!!!
And my fave
@NPRGoatsandSoda
will go ahead and produce it 🎉🎊
What did I learn? There is power in storytelling. Writing and by extension journalism lends a voice to people who would otherwise never be heard.Follow up stories, ‘day two’ is critical (been following this for 4 years).
For my birthday a few weeks back I invited my neighbours kids to come cut cake with me.
Now I’m the coolest person in our estate with kids fighting over who calls out ‘Aunty Eunice’ the loudest 😛
Maybe I should run for MCA in the next election?
I got published!
I have two articles in the 'Silence and Omissions: A Media Guide for Covering Gender-Based Violence.'
I wrote about the power of survivor-centred reporting in the global handbook.

This is hours after another blackout on Sunday that began at 9am-7.30pm.
Not sure who can help us now.
