My Granda & Granny moved to Ballymena in 1930’s from Glenravel. They had 14 children, 10 survived to adulthood. All reared on bricklayer’s wage!Their grandchildren, my cousins are in every profession, medical, teaching, arts, business. Nothing was handed to us! Ever. That’s all!

I graduated into the recession in 92! My wife, a Nurse, couldn’t get a job then. We both worked in a nursing home, as carers, probably one of the hardest and best experiences of my working life. We reared a family, survived 2008 crash! Trying to lead in 2022! U Can’t eat a flag!

On another note, at exactly this time 24 yrs ago my wife rang me from night duty @ RVH Belfast. Her mum had just had a stroke, our babies were in bed! But she described complete bedlam. Casualties arriving in helicopters and ambulances from Omagh.. mayhem! Simply! NOT up the Ra!
