🤬🤬🤬 @santamonicacity just elected a new city council, ALL of whom are anti-police, pro-homeless/crime radicals. Developers fooled residents into voting to shut down the 215 acre Santa Monica Airport to make it a park. The council now wants to turn it into HOMELESS HOUSING. That's what "supportive uses" means. Despite acknowledging the NEED for the airport as an emergency operations hub (anyone hear of water-dropping planes & helicopters?) & the massive environmental cleanup needed ($$$), they are HELL BENT on turning this into a taxpayer-funded haven for 50,000-100,000 homeless citing "external pressures." . ABSOLUTE LUNACY. Can't make this up. This is the same city that recently demolished a massive, MUCH-needed, taxpayer-OWNED his rise parking structure near the Beach & Third Street Promenade to turn it into $1-2 MILLION per unit taxpayer-funded luxury homeless housing. This ONE development, which (including land value) will cost taxpayers TENS (if not hundreds) OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS, doubling the city population, and potentially making this formerly beautiful seaside resort town the world's first HOMELESS MAJORITY CITY. Someone needs to stop this before it's too late. @RichardGrenell @GavinNewsom the feds and/or state can acquire this airport and keep it open OR convert it to use as a dedicated emergency operations airport. BTW WHY do we NEED a czar or outside consulting firm? Don’t we already have $$ management of every city department? The head of @LADWP makes $750k no? So why pay even MORE for consultants from CHICAGO to tell us what to do? It’s all one massive scam. Here’s how you rebuild: 1. Replace utility lines exactly as they were OR underground. 2. Rebuild every building exactly as it was without lengthy permit process. 3. Clear the brush & supply water to hydrants.
