It just takes patience to find that one. When I was a querying writer, I viewed rejections as weeding out the wrong agents before finding the right one. That made them seem less like disappointments and more like great steps forward! I hope all of this helps! [7/7]

I took a LONG time writing my form letter, and I hope it comes across as heartfelt as I meant it to be. It means the world to me that writers would consider me for representation, and I don't take that lightly.
Wow. Look, I got a rejection from Ernie recently. He responded fast & the letter was so nice I thought, “Damn, if I became an agent, I’d plagiarize this as my form response.” But don’t be jerks to agents, y’all. They read these for free.

I’m grateful for all the great things that happened in 2022. I signed some amazing clients, went on sub with some outstanding books, was included in the Writers Digest annual agent roundup, got an agency promotion, held my first auction, had one pre-empt, and sold 7 books total.

No! I was rejected 280 times as a writer before getting that one yes. Fast forward several years, and now as an agent I know exactly what querying writers are going through. I never send rejections lightly because I've been there. But you've got to keep at it!

This. Re: Streak, agents don’t receive emails from QM, it’s all form-based and lives within the QM framework until we pass, request, or use the message function, at which point it *sends* an external email. But there is never an email on our end for Streak to detect as opened.
