Great leaders embrace humility. If they don't, humility will embrace them. One of my mentors, Mike Clark, always said, "Be humble or you will be humbled." Man, is that ever true. Looking back at periods of my life, I'm disgusted with my lack of humility—and I paid for it. I was humbled. To cultivate humility, you need accountability and a heart for change. It's not comfortable, but it's required to lead yourself and others effectively. To listen to the rest of this conversation, listen to episode 570 of The BluePrint Podcast.

Coach Petersen nails it: Your ego is not your amigo. Looking back at my early career, I made a classic mistake. What I thought was confidence often came across as arrogance. The wake-up call? My co-workers' honest feedback. It hit me hard - really hard. Why did it sting so much? Because deep down, I knew that wasn't who I wanted to be. That feedback became a turning point. I shifted my focus entirely to being there for others and strengthening my team. Like everyone else, I'm still growing, still learning. While perfection isn't the goal, I'm fully committed to Coach Petersen's wisdom: it's about us, the team, not me! Want to hear the full conversation? Listen to episode 568 of The BluePrint Podcast!

Love this. To me: (Global optimism + intrinsic motivation) x task specific stress inoculation = psychologically resilient athlete

Athletes who scored higher on intrinsic motivation were much more likely to compete internationally 2.5 years later. Cultivate an inner drive if you care about long term success, and happiness.

“Great outcomes aren't built on great days, but on consistent ones. You can't just count the days when it's easy. Each day moves you closer to the goal. No day is a hero; no day is a villain. Perfect days don't compound. Consistent ones do.” @ShaneAParrish

Excellent podcast. To me, two things we ignore in the training process are the foot/ankle/calf complex & the vision. Everything else between the eyes and feet gets a lot of attention, however if these aren’t online, good luck.

@JerradG Exactly. I’ve worked with Olympic athletes and that’s truly a “peak event” especially in cyclic sports

A hallmark of high performers is how they confront doubt and take confident actions anchored in their training & values.

Colossal Biosciences raised $200M at a $10.2B post to bring back animals from extinction They're on track for a Woolly Mammoth calf in 2028, and are also working on the dodo and Tasmanian tiger This is super cool but beyond my pay grade... what is the business opportunity?

Great quote by @DreAllDay from our last podcast: “Time is the most valuable resource that we have. Every time we add time to a situation by delay, we’re placing a blind bet that we will have time in the future.”
