Otherwise, you need grow lights, which can be pricey, and still, assuming that's all you need to grow a tomato plant, $20 for some people might mean the difference between their child eating dinner that night.

Tomatoes have a growing season in PA from mid-May to first frost, which means the earliest tomatoes show up is late July/early August.

@justmoorebeauty @EvilClive67 @mousecrackers @RepGregStanton Oh, of course. You just need the money to buy the supplies (soil, fertilizer, seeds, pots, grow lights, etc.) or a kit in order to grow it. For people living below the poverty line, that's an extravagance many can't afford.

But the key is seasonal! We don't see tomatoes until at least early summer.
