Thank you to @314action for your confidence in me to lead my town as any good scientist would: by observing the issues we face, finding the root causes, and creating countermeasures that benefit all!
🚨314 Action announces the first slate of endorsements in 2025! We're proud to support these incredible STEM candidates and look forward to their science-based leadership. #ElectScientists

@EvilClive67 @mousecrackers @RepGregStanton Which costs money. Multispectral grow lights are not cheap and require a lot of electricity.

@justmoorebeauty @EvilClive67 @mousecrackers @RepGregStanton Great! Now, what about people with no land? Or if there is no southern exposure? Growing your own food is great in theory, but like most things, there are barriers to doing it.

@thought_inbox @justmoorebeauty @EvilClive67 @mousecrackers @RepGregStanton That's assuming you have clear southern exposure. Otherwise, you need grow lights, which can be pricey, and still, assuming that's all you need to grow a tomato plant, $20 for some people might mean the difference between their child eating dinner that night.

@justmoorebeauty @EvilClive67 @mousecrackers @RepGregStanton Yes, greenhouses are great. If you can afford one. And eating seasonal is good, but we were talking specifically about tomatoes. Tomatoes have a growing season in PA from mid-May to first frost, which means the earliest tomatoes show up is late July/early August.

@justmoorebeauty @EvilClive67 @mousecrackers @RepGregStanton Oh, of course. You just need the money to buy the supplies (soil, fertilizer, seeds, pots, grow lights, etc.) or a kit in order to grow it. For people living below the poverty line, that's an extravagance many can't afford.

@justmoorebeauty @EvilClive67 @mousecrackers @RepGregStanton I agree, and here in Downingtown, PA, we have a wonderful Farmers Market with fresh seasonal produce, meat, cheese, honey, beer, wine, liquor, and many other items. But the key is seasonal! We don't see tomatoes until at least early summer.

@EvilClive67 @mousecrackers @RepGregStanton And the 10s of millions who don't: - own homes - have a backyard - live in a place without seasons - have southern exposure What do they do?
