The new Royal Mail terminal at Daventry is now live! Services use Class 325s but the route into the terminal isn’t electrified, meaning the units need to be dragged. 66100 drags 325005+325002 past Daventry Sainsbury’s ready to form the 1S05 1534 Daventry to Shieldmuir.

A light engine move with a difference today! 0G94 to Bescot with a Chiltern 68 and a Colas 66 tagging along for the ride, plus a handy reminder to myself not to go mad with the 68! 🤣 Walking back to the depot now after shunting 6K05 away in Basford Hall! 😃
Draw forward over the crossing…..come to a stand, parking brake on, engine off, mode switch to zero, battery isolated…….and that’s my final shift of 2023 completed! Enjoyed my first year as a driver, doing what I love and loving what I do! All the best everyone! 🎅🎄👋🚅😊
A duty with a difference today! I was enlisted as a travelling shunter to accompany some wagons to Leeds Balm Road for repairs! We got stopped at Horbury Junction for a while due to only one line being available, which presented an opportunity to don the hi-vis and grab a pic!
Certainly not wishing to steal
@Flying_Vixen
’s thunder after her fantastic achievement yesterday, but today marked a year to the day when I did my first solo drive! My colleague videoed me taking my very first train out of Basford Hall - 4M27 to Daventry with 88002! 😃
68001 stands in Daventry Sainsbury's at the head of tonight's 4S45 to Mossend. In the background, a crane can be seen lowering a container onto the train.
***Position of safety, train fully secured, etc etc.....***
To all those who want driverless trains…..what would a driverless train have done here? I’m not an expert but I reckon it would have been time to break out the hoisin sauce…….
Funny thing happened on the way to Glasgow this morning… Well done to the driver of the 10am EK train for his care and patience. The mother duck flew onto the platform and they all waddled out the station door!
@ScotRail
88010 on Daventry reception lines. All ready to depart with 4S45 to Coatbridge. The train will depart on diesel mode but once on the main line, the pantograph will be raised and the train will proceed using its electric mode!
***Also from a position of safety innit…..***
After receiving my stabling instructions, I put 68014+68002 where they needed to be and secured them. I was going to get another picture of them both, but then spotted the 88 next to them…..it is 88002, the loco I did my first solo main line drive with after passing out!
68005 “Defiant” stands in Daventry Sainsbury’s ready to roll with 4S44, the 1216 departure to Coatbridge.
***Train secured, position of safety, you know the drill by now……!***

@RailDeliveryGrp
Can the ticket machines at quieter stations chat to people as they wait for their train and help them feel safe?
Can the ticket machines regularly patrol the station making sure everything is in order?
Can the ticket machines potentially talk a suicidal person away from the edge?
It was super power for me on 4S44 from Daventry to Crewe today in the form of 88002+68007! Once out on the main line it was pan up on the 88 and the two locos worked in multiple - absolutely flew! Shame I got detained outside Stafford due to signalling issues though……! 🤦♂️
Super power again and an impressive combination of liveries as 88010+68007 prepare to double head the 4S44 Daventry to Coatbridge, double heading in preparation for diversions via Toton and the ECML this weekend.
The night before the big day. Tomorrow I take my first solo main line drive after FINALLY passing out as a driver. Nervous, but excited! I dreamed of this day many times, but it’s now almost here after what seems like forever! 😊
An absolute legend of Twitter……oh, and
@Flying_Vixen
as well! 🤪 Truly honoured to finally met you in person Amy, and great to see you thoroughly enjoying your career! Enjoy the remainder of your shift! 😊 In the meantime, mine is just beginning! 😃
What’s that you say? Some locos need shunting around and 88007 is one of them? Ooh go on then! Also involved in said shunt was 88003 - the first 88 I ever rode behind, the first loco I drove on the main line, and the loco I rescued a year ago today!!!
So, my light 68 turned out to be two light 68s, the additional one being Chiltern 68014, the “chip oil” one, which I hadn’t driven before! A red signal at Carlisle allowed me the opportunity to grab a quick picture, with 68002 coupled behind.
May sound biased but that was one of the best drives of an 88 I’ve had so far! Didn’t miss a single beat! Seen in Daventry after arrival with 4M48 after the train had been secured. 66429 back for me later, so, till next time 88007! 😃
First day back after an extra “rest day” because of my medical, and what better way to spend it than in a soaking wet quarry?! 🤣 After work it was a quick drive across to Rowsley to sample GBRF 69008 at the Peak Rail diesel gala from Rowsley South to Darley Dale for D8 back!
6C06 earlier In Basford Hall after being prepped for departure. Lovely to finally meet
@S26PHY
for a chat as well! 😊 Walking back to Gresty Bridge to prep and shunt two 66s now! 😃
Contrasts at Carlisle - one is designed for speed and comfort while looking sleek and elegant at the same time…..the other is a Pendolino! Just joking with you
@AvantiWestCoast
! Was a stroke of luck capturing the first built Pendolino, 390001, alongside 45699 “Galatea”! 👌
Freightliner’s pink 66, 66587, sits in Daventry alongside internal shunt loco 261.
***Taken from a position of safety while my own 66 gets sloshed……full of fuel!***
And that’s a wrap! 37706, with 47245 on the rear, depart from Frodsham with the 1Z53 1458 Carlisle to Chester “Dalesman” charter. A brilliant day out with
@AnnBishopRowe
and her parents! Massive thanks to
@westcoastrail
for their hospitality, and good to briefly see
@Guard_Amos
!
To the dickhead who clipped my stationary car earlier while I was sat in it outside the school picking Joseph up - you didn’t damage my car but you did fail to stop and it seems you have an expired MOT too……the police will be having a chat with you soon……!
Managed to get three charters in Crewe this morning, along with a photo of the man himself, Les Ross, kindly agreeing to let me get a photo of him by his 86! Nice start to my shift!
So happy to finally be back in work! 😊 It’s been a rough few weeks but I’m really glad to be getting back to doing what I love! And I have a 68 today too! 😃👌
It’s another Daventry double ahead of diversions! 68007+68003 in the Russell’s terminal at Daventry ahead of today’s 4S44 to Coatbridge. The locos run round on the reception lines so 68003 will eventually be the leading loco!
68006+68034+68020+68019 at Upperby Junction with this morning’s 6C50 0125 Crewe Coal Sidings to Sellafield. Despite four locos on the front, only the front two were powering!
Well that was a good shift! A 67 to work, took two 68s to Carlisle and then finished the day off with another 67! The only “odd one out” was the 397 I had back south from Carlisle!
Day out to York with
@AnnBishopRowe
on the “Christmas White Rose” charter courtesy of
@LocoServicesGrp
and
@SaphosTrains
! When was the last time that two separate locos, both named “Royal Scot” hauled the same train though……? 🤔
Paw Patrol, Paw Patrol, will be there on the double…….Sun Express Boeing 737 TC-SPE wearing “Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie” livery, arrives at Manchester from Antalya.
(29/07/23)
“Refrigerated Rail - A Cool
Move” liveried 88010 at Daventry Sainsbury’s at the head of 4S45 1826 Daventry to Coatbridge. The train will head to the reception lines where the 88 will run round to the other end to head north and deliver the goods!
(27/09/23)
Tamper DR73914 passes Stockport with a 6T43 Stafford Sidings to Stafford Sidings circular working - tones from the driver followed by some sort of bizarre air raid siren after it passed! 🤣
I got stopped at Rugby yesterday due to Daventry being full. So while I was waiting, how did I pass the time? By rummaging around in Amy’s Bush of course! 🤪🤣
Passed my yearly rules assessment today, so what better way to celebrate than having a quick spin on the last operational Class 508? 😃 Finished off with 67008 from Crewe to Stockport as well! 👌
Having been turned on the triangle south of Carlisle station, 45699 “Galatea” prepares to shunt its stock into platform 3 at Carlisle, ready to work the 1Z53 1458 Carlisle to Chester “Dalesman” as far as Carnforth.
Blue-dolph the yellow-nosed train deer gets ready to haul a load of Christmas goodies* from Daventry north to Scotland on 4S45.
* = Likelihood is probably a stack load of Easter eggs……🐣
Two shots of 68007. One of it today on tonight’s 4S45 1826 Daventry to Coatbridge which I will drive as far as Crewe, and one of it back on 07/09/16 at Haymarket on 2L69 1720 Edinburgh to Cardenden. Back then, I never remotely imagined that one day I’d be driving 68007 myself! 😮
Went out this morning and did the famous “ghost train” which runs between Stalybridge and Stockport once a week! Did a return from Reddish South to Stockport and actually managed to purchase a ticket from the conductor! The Northern app wouldn’t let me……🙄 Here’s some pics! 😃
So, the night before the
@RailwayFamilyR1
London bus tour tomorrow! Just the small matter of a night shift and two trains to drive first though, so what better way to kick off with a brew and a chat with all my workmates in the messroom? 🤷♂️🤣
66050 crawls up alongside a pair of Freightliner Class 90s in Basford Hall and makes the smoothest of stops at the signal while working the 6M13 0104 Dollands Moor to Ditton Foundry Lane, being driven by none other than
@Flying_Vixen
!
My four “pick of the pics” from the SVR diesel gala yesterday, all taken at Kidderminster Town!
1) 43186
2) 56051
3) 37263
4) 33108
Great day with
@AnnBishopRowe
and my brother!
88005 stands in glorious sunshine at Daventry ready to work 4S45 conveying a train load of containers and its consignment of dead flies.

As Maritime blue liveried 66090 awaits the road with 0F66 0820 Trafford Park to Appleby Sidings, rainbow-liveried 390119 passes through Crewe with the 1M06 0533 Glasgow Central to London Euston.
(16/09/23)
Climate Change green liveried 390121 calls at Stockport with the 0610 Crewe to Manchester Piccadilly, while in the distance, 67025 crosses Stockport Viaduct with the 0627 Manchester Piccadilly to Cardiff Central.

@TrawsCymru_
I can’t believe this happened to you twice - 13 hours ago, and on the 30th October! I’ve looked at both Tweets and you’ve even got the exact same passengers wearing the same clothes, and the exact same driver! What are the odds of that?! 😮
This post can only mean one thing…..night shift!!! I can look forward to a diversion via the West Midlands, hopefully see
@RailVaramis
Mossend service somewhere just north of Stafford, and, if I play my cards right, I might be lucky enough to see Amy’s Bush! 😳🤣
With a friendly wave from the driver who myself and
@AnnBishopRowe
had been happily chatting to on the platform moments earlier,
@GBRailfreight
66704 pulls away from Crewe with the 6X77 1358 Dagenham Dock to Mossend Down Yard.
(29/09/23)
Another day done! Great to see
@SydneyBridgeTMD
for a brew at Crewe (lol) then spend the evening with
@AnnBishopRowe
- had a chinese and watched
@SydneyBridgeTMD
’s latest video! Early start again tomorrow so bedtime for me now! 🥱😊
88005 stands shut down in Daventry before getting ready to haul 4S44 to Mossend. In the background, a crane has a container high in the air prior to loading it on to the train.
***PHOTO TAKEN IN A POSITION OF SAFETY, LOCO FULLY ISOLATED***
A wonderful day out yesterday with equally wonderful people. The friendship, the atmosphere, the sense of togetherness within this fantastic community…..it’s just amazing. Fantastic to be able to see/talk to people I’ve only previously interacted with from a keyboard too! 😃
