Irish beef producers taking a really big hit as a result of Brexit. Exchange rate movements, market instability and in the case of no deal the threat of tariffs is leading to huge uncertainty and right now Irish beef farmers are protesting.

@_mullally_el_ Yet another example of how concurrent sentencing is failing victims. Justice is not seen to be done. How on earth can concurrent sentencing be justified for two completely separate crimes, both serious?

Article quotes research showing chilled meat alternatives down 38% in sales in just 2 years; meanwhile 18-24 year olds increasing meat consumption and influencers and investors jumping off the vegan bandwagon. Happy days.
The article is behind a paywall, but you get the idea: The plant-based obsession - which is unhealthy and not as sustainable as has been claimed - is over. Reality always intervenes eventually.

@CiaranCuffe TBF, you're fully open about the pros/ cons. Often use Dub-Ams as the choice/price of direct flights to Bxl so/so. Off plane at Schipol, frequent trains downstairs and in Brussels central -2 hrs. Mostly, not much stress fly Dub-Bxl and train direct from airport to Bxl central

@griptmedia It's inevitable that he will appoint at least 7 female senators. But no mention of worthy non-political appointments as has been the practice for some time now.

@PeterPaulGuy @_mullally_el_ @Independent_ie But Twitter is not real life - it is a fragment of society that is not representative, and that's before you even take into account how the majority of people here are either from somewhere else or bots. And then there's lots on X who give out but don't vote

@TomasJHeneghan @PadraigRice Fair play to you! It's shocking how it wasn't sorted back around 1980 TBH.

@TomasJHeneghan @PadraigRice Well let's say Sept '23 they put a little team together. Assess what's possible - amalgamate all 6 University seats? Then announce that all graduates who, heretofore, have not been eligible to vote must register by say 30 September 24. Update list. And bingo?

@thejournal_ie Compare this with the Hayes bros in Limerick who got lighter sentences for torturing and violently assaulting a mate who was lured to their house. They beat him doing serious damage with a wrench and threatened him not to report it. Something seriously wrong with sentencing

@rtenews This is not a serious country - this savage- with over 100 previous convictions incl assaults of women- convicted again for breaking into a home, raping a woman and repeatedly stabbing her in the face, a "danger to society" and gets off with just 15 years - out again in 10?

@RonanMullen Why would Ireland be entitled to any money from USAID? Surely they would assume that with all the transfer of profits done on paper that we would have more than enough $ to pay for our own DEI gigs
