We have all heard about the environmental consequences of artificial intelligence. But AI is both a problem and a solution! Today, we’re proving it with a world first in partnership with @MistralAI. We are witnessing a revolution. Together with the French and European leader in generative artificial intelligence, we have reached a major milestone in ecological transformation: we are reinventing resource and industrial site management to dramatically enhance efficiency. Imagine… Soon, we’ll be able to talk to factories! This means that our operators around the world will be able to interact directly with facilities, get instant responses to identify issues in real time, suggest improvements, preserve resources, and much more. In practical terms, we are combining @Veolia’s vast historical database on water, waste, and energy management with Mistral AI’s analytical capabilities. This will allow us to navigate an ocean of information at unprecedented speed, interpret it, and relay it to humans to help anticipate risks and modernize the supervision of industrial facilities and resources. The solution developed with Mistral AI is currently being tested in seven Veolia plants. By the end of 2025, several dozen sites will be equipped. Ultimately, at least 30% of our maintenance technicians—thousands of people worldwide—will have this highly intuitive tool installed directly on their phones. At Veolia, we are already convinced that optimizing water, waste, and energy management through digital technology and AI can create tremendous value. This is a key pillar of our GreenUp strategic plan for the coming years. Thanks to this partnership, we now have the tools to bring this vision to life even faster. Generative artificial intelligence can be our most valuable ally in preserving, protecting, and regenerating resources—and accelerating decarbonization!

What a strange and intense time to visit our operations in California, as fires still rage in LA… I had the opportunity to discuss with our team what @Veolia does best: offer innovative and affordable environmental solutions for all. The atmosphere certainly felt different this week with the Los Angeles fires being so close. It is a heavy yet especially meaningful time to be here in the US, addressing water and hazardous waste management challenges. One thing is for certain: we have crucial work to do here, and it has never been this urgent. At the West Basin plant, we combine leading technologies to reclaim water into 5 different qualities. In Azusa hazardous waste facility, we support industries thriving whilst ensuring pollutants are treated and human health protected. Once again, we are reminded of how special and essential our mission truly is. We are ready to assist wherever we may be needed. My thoughts go to all of the victims, the displaced families, and the many Veolia employees affected. Stay strong and stay safe everyone! At this difficult moment, my thoughts go to all of the victims, the displaced families, and the many Veolia employees affected. Veolia California, thank you for your courage. You have achieved tremendous things already and many more are awaiting. Stay strong and stay safe everyone!

At @Veolia, we act because we care. It is a shared spirit that can be heard from each of our employees! When I see so many voices, so many faces rallying behind these values in this amazing song, I can feel that being part of Veolia truly is a special bond, and the immense energy that comes from it. At @Veolia, we take care of people. On top of protecting people’s health, shielding their standards of living has always been part of our goal to make essential resources widely available. At @Veolia, we take care of regions, cities and localities. Our technologies are designed to rely on local resources and promote a circular economy, making each piece of land more self-reliant along the way. At @Veolia, we take care of our planet. Veolia keeps coming up with new solutions to reduce the strain on essential resources such as water and energy, and massively develops the recycling or reemployment of stuff that is traditionally discarded as mere “waste”. Of course, we are not perfect but stop caring or giving up? That is something Veolia’s people just don’t do! You can count on us to keep pushing, keep daring, and make ecological transformation happen wherever it is needed. And to make good on this promise, as the year 2025 gets underway, Veolia’s employees made this song to celebrate our caring spirit will also make a real difference. Thank you to everyone at @Veolia for the incredible commitment and passion that gave birth to this great initiative. Take care! 🔗

Can you believe we’re about to step into 2025? Time to look back, be grateful for what was achieved… and most of all, thank those who made it possible. To every single person at Veolia, thank you. Seriously, from the bottom of my heart. Your passion, your commitment and your hard work, it’s been incredible. And to all our stakeholders out there, your trust means everything to us. This year it’s been a rollercoaster. But you know what? We nailed it. We did it even as media attention towards the crucial matter of ecological transformation has sometimes been wavering, given the magnitude of the changes the world has seen in 2024. That's all thanks to your creativity and expertise. I am extremely proud of what we achieved together, it’s just WOW! I am sure plenty of exciting challenges await in 2025 as well, alongside great new opportunities. Big ones! So, I wish you all a well-deserved rest and a wonderful end of the year with your loved ones. Happy New Year everyone and see you in 2025!

An auspicious day for the environment in #Riyadh! @Veolia continues to put its know-how and innovation capabilities at the service of the Vision 2030 project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as environmental projects keep arising in the #MiddleEast. We are in action on three fronts: water, waste and energy. Because of the magnitude of local challenges, we have designated the Middle East as a geographic booster in our #GreenUp plan. We target 50% growth here by 2030 📈, based on our unmatched capabilities in crucial fields such as water resource preservation, hazardous waste treatment and low-carbon energy production – all very high items on the agenda of Middle Eastern countries. And we have a clear contribution to make on all three. 1️⃣ Let’s start with #water💧. We already have many emblematic desalination plant projects underway in the region, be it the Hassyan plant, the most energy-efficient and second largest in the world, the Hamriyah and Mirfa 2 plants in the United Arab Emirates, the Sur plant in Oman and the Sadara-Marafiq plant in Saudi Arabia. ➡️ Overall, our technologies have equipped 15% of the infrastructures present in the Middle East. 2️⃣ On #waste ♻️, we just signed a partnership agreement with the Saudi Investment Recycling Company (SIRC), backed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), to create the national and regional champion of waste treatment. It will manage all kinds of it, from domestic to industrial and even hazardous waste. ➡️ We already have hazardous waste treatment capacities of more than 350 KT in Saudi Arabia, with high growth by 2027 in our crosshairs. 3️⃣ Local decarbonizing #energy ⚡ is the third pillar of our action in the Middle East. To take one telling example, we are working hand in hand with Tarshid, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality organization, to set up the country’s first energy performance contract. ➡️ It will lead to a series of measures to optimize cooling systems and deliver 30% energy savings, avoiding 4,630 tons of carbon emissions every year. I would like to thank His Royal Highness and the Saudi authorities for their warm hospitality and HRH Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud - Minister of Energy, Mr. Mohammad Abdullah Abunayyan - Chairman of @ACWAPower, HE @Khalid_AlFalih - Minister of @InvestSaudiand, Ziyad Alshiha - Chief Executive Officer of @SIRCSaudi for our insightful conversations. I know I can rely on the energy and commitment of the more than 11,000 employees of @VeoliaME to accelerate #EcologicalTransformation in the region. 🌏 Let’s keep reaching higher!

When it’s cold out there, energy consumption tends to go up. But what if we could turn this cold into local and sustainable #energy? ❄️⚡Well, it is a world first and it is happening at the Enagás LNG terminal in the Port of #Barcelona! Yesterday, I inaugurated our groundbreaking new recovery facility that harnesses residual cold energy from this LNG terminal, then turns it into decarbonized energy injected directly into the grid. 🚢 It will then serve industries, more than 11,000 homes, and Mercabarna, Barcelona’s main wholesale food market. It is a symbol of the way @Veolia turns resources usually discarded as #waste into precious new energy sources by tapping into local decarbonizing energy reservoirs, such as non-recyclable waste and residual heat and cold from industrial processes. ➡️ This project will avoid 32,000 tons of carbon emissions per year, equivalent to 110 round-trip long-haul flights between Barcelona and New York, in line with our vision of #EcologicalTransformation. ➡️ We know that 70% of Spanish people feel vulnerable to the effects of #ClimateChange and understand the direct impact on their daily lives, according to our global survey. We also know that they are calling for practical and accessible solutions to be implemented fast and at scale. Recent tragic events in Valencia and repeated droughts in some regions have reinforced this feeling. ➡️ The country has clearly been a pioneer in many environmental solutions, including wastewater recycling. And even beyond water management, Veolia is also determined to strengthen its role in energy and plastic waste treatment in Spain. We have big ambitions there, with 550 million euros invested just between 2021 and 2023. 📈 In three years, we have tripled our workforce there to 14,000 people to meet the country’s crucial needs. Thank you to our partners at @enagas, the Barcelona City Council, the Port of Barcelona, Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (@ConsorciZF), Generalitat de Catalunya (@gencat) for helping such an ambitious project come to life. Thank you to our customers, Mercarbarna and the presidents of Asociación de Empresas Mayoristas de Mercabarna and the Guilds. And thank you to the whole Veolia team (@Veolia_Es) involved in the work for its passion and ingenuity. Together, we are headed towards new heights!

🌎 #COP16 on #biodiversity, which concluded a few days ago, unfortunately could not lead to a large consensus on the terms and conditions for implementing the historic agreement reached in 2022 during the COP15. However, let's keep our fighting spirit to achieve the ambitious goals of this agreement, including the restoration of 30% of damaged natural ecosystems by 2030. At Veolia, we are not wasting any time. ➡️ We have been developing biodiversity-enhancing know-how for decades. Our #wastewater treatment operations help discharge quality water into the natural environment and fight pollution. ➡️ #Waste collection and treatment prevents the spread of pollution in soils, in water, and in our atmosphere. ➡️ The production of recycled fertilizer helps make natural ecosystems more balanced. ➡️ Centralized district heating networks are much less straining on the surrounding environment than more polluting alternatives. Our 2024 biodiversity report lays out how our activity helps limit three of the five aspects of human activity tied to the decline of biodiversity: overuse of natural resources (including water), climate change, and the pollution of soil, air and #water bodies. One of our key objectives is also to turn the sites we operate into biodiversity spaces. We have already identified 163 high-priority sites in the world, where we are actively implementing varied methods to regenerate ecosystems. 🇪🇸 In Alicante, #Spain, the nature-based solution that we have implemented at La Marjal, a floodable urban park, combines protection of the surrounding area in case of flood and enhancement of the local biodiversity. Recent tragic events in the country showcase how essential it is to accelerate! To get even more results in time, our strategic plan, #GreenUp, includes precise targets, also embedded in our act4nature international commitment. Today, of all of our sites, 50% have already implemented ecological management, and 56% have a zero phytosanitary policy. By 2027, we want to take both of these figures to 95%. Let’s help regenerate the living! 🔗

Quarter after quarter, our #results showcase the robustness of our value-creation model. Q3 2024 was no exception. We are delivering our #GreenUp objectives, with our growth boosters picking up speed as they are central to our strategy. 📈 Over the first three quarters of 2024, our booster activities 🚀 were up 6.9% compared with a year earlier, at constant scope and forex and excluding energy prices. Our EBITDA growth continues to be solid, coming in at +5.6% at constant scope and forex, within our guidance range. As a result, both our 2024 and GreenUp 2024-27 objectives are fully confirmed. On top of good momentum for our hazardous waste activities, especially in Europe, we are noticing an uptick in interest for our innovative water technologies offers. Our new #BeyondPFAS offer, the market reference in the fight against #micropollutants,🦠 will allow us to target 1 billion euros of sales in this field by 2030 as attention towards PFAS and other pollutants in water is growing all around the world. Meanwhile, our synergies plan is running ahead of schedule, allowing us to raise our cumulative synergies target to 430 million euros at the end of 2024. Despite a challenging global macro context, GreenUp is firmly on the rails and this quarter’s results are strengthening my confidence because we know how to adapt, accelerate our synergies and performance, and take growth opportunities where they arise. @Veolia’s winning formula is the combination of our agility, robustness, and the complementarity of our geographies and businesses, with 80% of our activities outside of France. 🌍 Now, onto the next quarter! 🔗

.@Veolia and the Kingdom of #Morocco 🇲🇦 have signed a Memorandum of Agreement to build the largest seawater #desalination project in Africa and the second largest in the world! This groundbreaking initiative will be a game-changer for sustainable #water resources in the region.🌊💧 We are very honored to be writing this new bold page in the history of our long-standing partnership with the Kingdom of Morocco. The Kingdom is on the front line of #ClimateChange impacts, with six consecutive years of drought. Thankfully, his Majesty the King Mohammed VI has made it a priority to rise up to the challenge and set up a water plan. We are here to contribute with our skills and innovation to help deliver this plan. In Morocco, we have already been actively implementing solutions such as leak reduction and #wastewater solution; it is now time to accelerate even further, and this is where desalination comes into play to ensure optimal supply for the population. 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Combining our expertise from all around the world, the new plant is set to become a reference in terms of #sustainability and performance at the best quality for the best price. ➡️ Why does it matter? Because in arid regions, climate change has brought water scarcity issues to a boiling point, with a need to find new reliable sources for people, cities and the economy to function properly. Right now, Morocco is facing its harshest water drought in 40 years. Seawater desalination is critical to address the challenge. ➡️ What is it exactly? Near #Rabat, on the Atlantic coast, we will be building, financing and operating a plant with near-unmatched capacity. Desalination plants treat seawater so that it becomes usable in a wide array of industrial and day-to-day uses - including drinking water, which will be the case at Rabat. ➡️ How big is it? The plant will have a capacity of 822,000 cubic meters of drinking water per day, or 300 million cubic meters per year, making it the second largest in the world and the very first in #Africa. It will meet the needs of 9.3 million inhabitants. 🔗

A few days ago, we took a deep dive into #water.💧Not the kind of dive you are imagining though 😉: it was a thorough look at water challenges and what exactly the future of water holds to protect #health, natural resources and therefore to enable industries and cities to grow. 1️⃣Water in #industry, first. Many industries, be they legacy or ultramodern, are super water-intensive, like pharmaceuticals and data centers for example. We have a whole suite of technologies to slash their consumption and are already working on the solutions of tomorrow. 🏭 2️⃣Water for #localities and municipalities, second. Thanks to our global footprint, we can bring the best innovations right where they are needed, blending the know-how of a global leader and the agility of a local partner. 🏫 3️⃣The water business model, third. In line with our #GreenUp ’s trajectory, we have a winning business model making us swifter than anyone else thanks to our unique technology portfolio, our five-priority offer and the combination of our businesses to create value. 🚀 4️⃣And fourth, water ambitions of course! The water technologies market is booming, and we want to lead it by growing three times faster than it, targeting an annual growth of 6 to 10% over the next few years for our water technology segment. 📈 Water challenges are looming large on the horizon. So are our fighting spirit and our ability to come up with the right answers at the right time. Although we did not need any towels in the end, this #DeepDive was as refreshing and energizing as it gets!

We all need to have peace of mind when it comes to water quality and our #health.💧 This is what we provide with our new #BeyondPFAS offer! Our end-to-end offer, the most complete on the market, enables our clients, industries and cities, to effectively detect, treat and dispose of #PFAS 🦠 in one fell swoop. It provides optimum cost because we tailor the offering to local needs and regulations, implementing exactly what is needed to be compliant rather than using a one-size-fits-all technology. Our BeyondPFAS offer includes: ◾state-of-the-art technologies for the detection of regulated PFAS in #water, treatment solutions for wastewater as well as drinking water, ◾innovative processes for the safe management of PFAS-contaminated waste, ◾support services for local authorities and industries that are dealing with PFAS. How? ◾by combining our know-how in three core fields: water operations, water technologies and hazardous #waste management, ◾by having an expertise that spans across the entire pollution treatment value chain, ◾by bringing to the table worldwide market-leading expertise, notably in Europe, the US and Australia. The fight against micropollutants is a top priority in our #GreenUp strategic plan. We estimate that by 2030, we will have 1 billion euros in sales coming from the detection and treatment of #micropollutants (in particular PFAS). 🚀 ⏩ Two years ago, we were at 0 in sales in that domain and are on track to reach 200 million euros in 2024. 📈 Together, let’s go #BeyondPFAS right now! 🔗

Want to visit a place which represents audacity and innovation in the service of protecting #health and #water resource?💧What springs to my mind is Oroszlány in #Hungary. 🇭🇺 ➡️ It’s the worldwide hub and excellence center of the best-in-class membrane filters for optimal water treatment. Today, due to global warming, water quality is threatened by new pollutants such as toxic #PFAS - also known as “forever chemicals” -🦠 and pesticide metabolites with emerging risks to our health. And that's where membranes come in! They are extraordinarily useful, retaining tiny particles, such as bacteria and viruses, present in polluted water. Used to filter drinking water, wastewater, and for tertiary, industrial and municipal applications, these membranes are an effective solution for our growing water needs. We are facing a number of new challenges – requirements in terms of quality, resource regeneration, and reducing health and environmental impacts – driving a massive acceleration of the water technology market, which is expected to be one of the most dynamic in the environmental sector, with a growth rate of 2-3% per year. 📈 ➡️ But we aim bigger at @Veolia, confident in our unique offers and positioning. So, our target is to grow 3️⃣times faster than the market, 6 to 10% per year. 🚀 ➡️ Our extended portfolio of technologies, track record and international footprint are quite unique. When we add our capacity to create value from the combination of our diversified businesses (water, waste, energy) we really have a winning formula ! Our high-potential offers (micropollutants, wastewater reuse, minerals recovery, ultrapure water, desalination) are super promising as seen with many contracts won in the last few months. With our #GreenUp strategic program, Veolia is leading the way to bring the best technologies to market in the fastest and most affordable way possible! Thank you to the entire team at @VeoliaWaterTech, and to the members of the site, for your warm welcome yesterday in Hungary and the incredible work you are doing in the service of #EcologicalTransformation! 👏
