@Sanfranb27 @WestCoastOnly15 @gianthot_takes Entirely possible, though if they have any interest in him being a starter in his career I feel it’s irresponsible to move him to the pen now. He needs to continue building his innings (same with Harrison and Birdsong)

@matthewk36711 So 3 of his 4 years full years in the majors he’s either missed significant time or been severely hampered by them on the field. That’s a pattern.

@BayAreaEmo I was all for him on a 3 year deal. Shorter or anything 5+ I wasn’t fond of personally. Felt it needed to be long enough to be worth forfeiting the assets but short enough that if/when he declines it’s not too damaging given what they would have had to pay him.

@B3RT87 I agree they aren’t close to competing, said as much in the vid, hope is probably they find a few more core pieces to move forward with and hopefully they can either sign or trade for a star next offseason along with Bryce coming.

@WestCoastOnly15 @gianthot_takes Best guess would be BP and ZM are more concerned with figuring out what they have with the current young arms and less worries about which arm they throw with as it currently stands. Find good players today, worry about a “complete roster” in the future.

@BoraAymak 💯. No predictions from me on what he ends up becoming, I just see the potential. But Birdsong is the one I’ve been highest on and among LHP in their system I personally feel Whitman has the best pitch mix. He does have some command stuff he’s working through though.

@BoraAymak But at the same time it’s also difficult to know what his ceiling actually is when we’ve never seen him with more than one plus pitch. If he can develop a high end secondary pitch to play off his FB it can be game changing.
