Our Titan gave us some issues earlier so we had to cover it with RML 2405. It’s now sorted and we’re heading out of service to Tilbury Ferry where it will resume its booked duty from there

On Sunday 7th April, we are celebrating 40 years since the last RT type bus operated in normal service for London Transport. We will be operating some special runs along the old Barking based 62 route with two of the actual last RT buses. More information soon!

Things are now coming together well to the point that I should be able to release vehicle allocation information later tomorrow or early Wednesday but under the proviso that things are still subject to change. There are some changes this year…

Preparations are going well for this years Running Day.
Route X55 will be rerouted between Swanscombe & Gravesend this year due to the long term closure of Galley Hill Road where part of the cliff under the road fell away!

Running day staff & vehicle allocations are coming on well! We will have some key industry figures driving for us again (some becoming regulars now! 😂) and in terms of vehicles, there will be a nice mix of older & slightly more modern ones. Im looking forward to two inparticular

Ooh….things are getting closer and much progress has now been made.
The vehicles are being given final checks, a few bits to finish and both of our surprise vehicles have passed MOT and/or COIF. One of these looks stunning! 🤩

Things have been much more uncertain this year due to many of the vehicles needing additional work doing on them due to where they have been sat for near 2 years not turning a wheel!

Ensign’s 2021 Running Day has been declared the most successful ever. “We sold around 700 day tickets, the weather was good and everyone seems to have enjoyed themselves,” said Ensign Director Steve Newman.

So I can now confirm that we have 4 special guest vehicles & a 5th is possible for the running day. Two will be on X21, one on X55, one on X81 and the fifth might be on the X55 meal break duty. All are absolute corkers and have not been seen on our running days before

So you may have heard, face coverings will become *mandatory* to wear again on the bus from next week.
This will mean that face coverings will be required for the Running Day (unless exempt)

Additionally we have a (both ways) diversion between Swanscombe & Gravesend on route X55.
We expect there to be up to 4 guest vehicles and a possible surprise vehicle too.

Good afternoon! We now have the 3 routes for this years running day on 7th December confirmed. Basically all the same except X21 will no longer serve Brentwood - Ongar. So we will have: X21 Upminster - Brentwood, X55 Upminster - Gravesend, X81 Shenfield Station - Tilbury Ferry

Despite missing the opportunity to ride it on a different route earlier today I wanted to make one more return trip on T499, after dark. So many of these buses are more beautiful when tungsten lit and this is one of the best 🤩...
