The Critical Drinker is a piece of shit that we’ve allowed to operate amongst us for far too long. A thread 🧵

@_Adubis_ So is Kieran So is Zoe So is Ariana It doesn't really matter cus the Academy embraced these folks in those categories, so we'll treat the Challengers boys the same.

Technically Nolan's fault since he's supposed to get a better take.

Marion Cotillard is taking the blame for her awkwardly staged death scene at the end of Christopher Nolan‘s final Batman film, “The Dark Knight Rises": "I didn't nail that scene. I didn't find the right position. I didn't find the right way... I was stressed. Sometimes it happens that you screw something up. So that, I screwed up."

People are now using the Anora wins to justify Sean Baker not having an intimacy coordinator and that it was a silly thing to be upset about???

@PtickySoo I think that's kinda the problem with his career and why it hasn't gone anywhere. He's just a serviceable guy. He's what people thought Channing Tatum was 10 years ago before he was in an Oscar nominated movie and the Jump Street films.

@PS1Hagr66927101 The danger with Anora rn, even if the DGA + PGA win is massive, is that Anora isn't sweeping any of the categories it needs like Director, Screenplay, Actress. They're shaky right now. It could still win Screenplay and Director but who knows.

@WaashyV2 I actually wasn't talking about this year's race. It's just a general question I have regarding the philosophical side of things.

Eh, I wouldn't make this point when we don't know which movie was 2nd or 3rd there. The industry clearly did go gaga for it pre-controversy.

'Emilia Perez''s controversy didn't happen until PGA voting was in its twilight. Which tells me those audience scores did in fact still matter. Passion can only get you so far when everyone else LOATHES your movie.

The Mufasa box office thing is only funny because of annoying Sonic fans. That and the fact that we all dissed Barry Jenkins' career choices.
