Clarisa and I had a wonderful time Friday evening at the @AngeloState Spur Society Gala. The event celebrated the remarkable individuals who have made ASU the pride and joy of our community. I am incredibly proud to recall that the first bill I ever passed in the Texas House moved Angelo State into the @TTUSystem—a decision that has paid dividends over the years. Congratulations to all the honorees for your lasting contributions, and thank you to everyone who has helped shape ASU into such an exceptional institution. We are proud to be part of the #RamFam! #txlege

Mr. @CSalcedoShow, I understand that you have opposed Speaker @Burrows4TX since the moment he announced his candidacy, and your personal dislike, unfortunately, is translating to a decline in your ability to interpret my statement and the rules, as passed by the House with a majority of Republicans voting in favor. The House rules do not mandate Democrats chair permanent subcommittees, that is factually inaccurate. The adopted House rules state that Republicans are the chairs of committees, and Democrats are the vice-chair. Under the rules of the House: the chairman, and the chairman only, runs the committee. Committees are not, and never have been, dictated solely by vice-chairs, subcommittee chairs, or subcommittee vice-chairs. It is a collaborative process that involves all members of the committee, headed by the chairman - a Republican. You are welcome to re-read my statement and find anything I said that is factually inaccurate. If a conservative bill does not pass this session, you are free to blame the committee’s Republican chair, which, in all fairness, you were going to do regardless. As for me, I will focus on delivering on issues that matter for the constituents who re-elected me last March and November, such as water infrastructure, property tax appraisal reform, supporting public education, and measures that improve our oil, gas, and energy economy. I appreciate your interest and participation in our legislative process. #txlege
This is dishonest, showing willful voter deception from @DrewDarbyTX. While @Burrows4TX did eliminate Dem chairs, he restructured the House with a series of vice-chair & subcommittees, headed by MANDATED Democrats, who will function as gatekeepers for House bills. Dems remain in charge of the TX House.
