Inspiring talk by Carleen Scott and others about development of level 1 psychological support at #uksf24 .... great that they're aware of need to support admin staff and tea ladies (who are front line and have some of the most contact with stroke survivors on the ward!).

"levels 1 psychological support might be one of the most important parts of our role" - stroke consultant, Dr Chaterjee. Couldn't agree more. Heartened to hear how psychological support has been front and centre of so many sessions at #uksf24. Please follow @StrokeWaters !

Completely agree..useful session. We need to upskill and support workforces to deliver neuropsych support and encourage psychologists into stroke care through training programmes
In our #UKSF24 session about meeting the demands of neuropsychological support in stroke services. Dr Mark Griffiths from @LHCH stressed “There should be access to psychological support. It should be included in the offer for all patients along the whole pathway.”

@CzarinaKirk. This framing was v.interesting: if we knew someone was twice as likely to get an infection, we'd treat it with preventative drugs/strategies. Why don't we do this with mental health when we know ABI/Stroke greatly increases the risk of MH issues / self-harm risk?
Neuropsychiatrist @CzarinaKirk shares shocking statistics about the impacts on mental health after a brain injury. Many patients aren't even asked about how they feel afterwards by professionals. #GMNISDNConf24

A "stroke navigator" for #lifeafterstroke who supports the person + their families to navigate complex health systems for 12 months post stroke. Sounds brilliant 👏 we could learn so much from this German system. Let's listen to what service users tell us... They ask for this!
