@hasanscreams @AnisaTheGreasy I still don’t see how it’s at all similar to insulin. Some people kills themselves. Some (but not all) of them are depressed. However, there isn’t proof that SSRIs prevent people from killing themselves, in the same way that there’s proof of deaths caused by untreated diabetes.

@hasanscreams @AnisaTheGreasy That's an extremely tenuous connection. Diabetes is a physiological condition that is diagnosed by lab tests. The biological basis of depression is still unknown and it's not caused by low serotonin according to this 2022 review of all previous research.

@AlanLevinovitz Maybe start with banning advertisements for junk food on shows that mainly watched by children. There should be broader political agreement on that.

@polipendulum @calleymeans @thefoodbabe I agree. I also think that people already have a good idea which foods are bad for them. Adding more warnings probably won’t make much difference. There should definitely be an effort to study and eventually ban ingredients that make junk foods addictive.

If they're not hoping to get paid by pharma, they're just incredibly arrogant and think they're above everyone.
