@mcuban It’s a tug of war every time the two sides come to the table to negotiate rates. The leverage at the negotiating table is based on local market power. If only one dominant plan, hospitals have to accept lower price, if only one dominant system, plans have to accept higher prices.

This is bad news... and requires a change in strategy... starting with working with communities - and addressing barriers and creating benefits. "U.S. clinical trial diversity dropped to its lowest level of the decade, according to @IQVIA_US report “Global Trends in R&D 2023.”"

Glass Health is featured in @NPR this morning 🩺 As a medicine community, we have battled documentation burden and burnout for years. Generative AI is a new technology with the potential to help us win that fight. @GlassHealthHQ @element119 #medtwitter

Excellent breakdown of latest #omicron data from South Africa. Still much to learn, but for those looking for a trusted source of information, @leorahorwitzmd is it. Thanks for the insights!

Phenomenal preprint from South Africa on #omicron severity. Insanely fast analysis with multiple linked national datasets. Kudos to the authors. Results? You'll see headlines about reduced severity, but full story more complicated. My thoughts.

@chrissyfarr Critically important point. I wrote about this over the summer how the surprisingly high # of unvaccinated folks may not be all that surprising after all. We, doctors, see patients make decisions incongruent with maximizing their health all the time!

Appealing to fear isn't going to end the pandemic. Repeatedly sounding the alarm has put us through a form of exposure therapy—we’ve built up antibodies against fear. The last thing we need is a population too bored to pay attention and take action.
