Done with 1 month of observership at a US hospital and I can honestly say, I've never seen as elaborate EMR as EPIC. H&P, notes, MAR, labs and internal communications all through one system is just mind blowing. I'm so excited to learn about other EMRs during my next rotations.

Looking for observerships, preparing for step 3, working a full time job, working on research all the while taking care of mental health cause I'm afraid of burnout ... It's even more challenging than both steps. Hope it all works out in the end. #Match2025

About the research, we pooled the studies conducted to determine the effect of TNF alpha inhibitors on ejection fraction and inflammation of cardiac myocytes, which can be important in determining the treatment plan for patients intolerant or resistant to steroids.

Recieved my 8th GenSurg interview as an IMG today! They offered a fast-track entry to PGY4, an integrated fellowship, and a 1-2 years pathway to becoming the new PD. Not too bad!

@MohammedSo74422 It's very hard to resist studying while on vacation. But what I've learned from making this mistake again and again is Neither do you get to study well Nor do you get mental peace And you will burnout.

@Shariqqwani Day 2: mostly uworld can help with the questions part. Look up vaccination schedules. I did UWSA 1,2 and free 136. Same scores in all. Got 10+ marks on real exam. Didn't do any other assessments as I was short on time.

@mariamfaroooq @suttishakal I agree that you can pass the exam after studying for 1 month before the exam. But to retain the knowledge (which antibiotics to give for a particular disease, and criteria and scores and so on..) is hard but very much necessary when you're in practice.

@Shariqqwani Don't stress over doing all the CCS cases. You need practice but you also need to understand the method on how to deal with the questions. That's more important.

Let me help applicants on interviews 1. If offered, do NOT say "I need to talk with my mother" 2. Dont accept a spot and then try to back out 3. Dont say "Can I get a spot for my husband too?"

@hassanjan01 It is quite user friendly in my opinion. To be clear, it was an observership, so I just used it to review the notes under supervision. I wasn't involved in internal communications or ordering labs or anything like that.

@lucky86796057 I should also mention that I just wanted to pass, so if you're aiming for much higher scores, I'd suggest not following this and look for someone who had high scores. UWSA 1: 2 weeks before exam 210 UWSA 2: 1 week before 213 Free 136: 3 days before 70% Exam 227

@Amalagamate Once you're in med school, it's not that difficult to pass your exams. Like in our batch of 330 students, almost 300 students passed the exams every year.

@Amalagamate I'll keep an eye out for anyone who's in the same boat, or who has done that. You can also find a Facebook group like this. I'm sure people would love to share their experience then you can make an informed decision. Best of luck!

@Amalagamate I'm gonna be honest, I feel like my opinions won't be as well valid as the person who actually chose this pathway. This isn't unheard of. I have known people who did that. However, no one in my close circle has been through this. So I am unaware of their experiences.

@Amalagamate If you're a Pakistani student, go to Pakistani Med school. Start prepping for exams during med school. Go to the US for electives. Be involved with research. Join organisations like RCOP that teach you research. It's gonna be hectic but it's gonna be fruitful in the long run.

@lucky86796057 I started in May. Did only 7-8% uworld during that time. Did the rest in June and July. System wise (personal preference). Did one pass. Then wrongs randomly. I left biostats for last. From FA, I did pharma of all systems. Just went over biochem and micro.

@Amalagamate I understand that. You'll be debt free when you graduate. For competitive fields, you can do post doc after graduation and again, for that you'll need connections. You'll have to go an extra mile to be involved in research. There aren't many opportunities for that.

@Amalagamate I haven't done electives, so that's the question for someone who did. I have seen my juniors going for electives, so it's possible. Again, I'm not the right person to ask this as I'm doing observership, which is easier to get. Plus there are APPNA opportunities.

@Shariqqwani Tbh, all I can think of is prepare for your CCS cases. They save you. After the exam, you can't really tell if you did well or not. Day 1 is kinda tricky, there's biostats and drug ads. Rest I can't say even now what to prepare to do well.

@lucky86796057 I started CCS cases very late. And did 50-60 total. Most of these were done 2 days before day 2. I did things that were helpful to me in the past exams. I would've reviewed biochem and micro if I had time. Like what disease is AD/AR. RNA/DNA virus etc superficial stuff.

@kaghazkephool I worked as an MO for 1.5 years. I know you're looking for a job, but best would be to take FCPS and start training. Or if you're preparing for another exam, do that.
