Well, I ended 2023 in a good way, marrying my best friend in the cutest little Jewish-Indian fusion wedding at our synagogue ❤🍾 drums were drummed, chairs were lifted.
I need good vibes today please. Interviewed for a job as a retail manager with a really cool charity yesterday and it went well, I'm waiting to hear back today 👀🤞
@moniza_hossain
As a CSA survivor, Lolita is still to this day my number one favourite book of all time. It is such a skillful use of unreliable narrator and the prose is stunning.
Hey there
#WritingCommunity
- my name is Dorian, I'm an agented author of queer historical fiction, usually gothic horror, horror, or anything with a strange or speculative element! I live in London and study law!
Going into sub, I'm scared Lydia being an unlikeable MC might ruin it for me. But mostly I'm annoyed that unlikeable female MCs are an issue at all, when there are so many unlikeable male MCs out there.
@Thedragonlord0
@hobbitslibrary
Witches were born from a litany of antisemitic nonsense. I literally have a novel on sub right now that addresses this. Trust me, if someone has witches in their book, getting a Jewish sensitivity reader to make sure you aren't perpetuating that harmful nonsense is good.
ANNOUNCING...with the blessing of my agent, I'm self publishing my 1870s romantic dramedy 'The Extraordinary Untrue Life of Mirah de Rothschild' under the pen name Vivien Hart!
I am now delighted to announce (and reveal the cover for...) the sequel to The Extraordinary Untrue Life of Mirah de Rothschild. Coming December 2024.
🖤 fake marriage trope
🖤 eccentric family
🖤 an archery contest
🖤 a trans LI
🖤 an 🎆 explosive Midsummer ball 🎆
COVER REVEAL! If you've ever had the immensely specific thought 'I'd like to read a queer, Jewish, 'John Tucker Must Die' meets 'My Fair Lady' set in 1870s London', then do I have a book for you! Coming March 2024 from my pen name Vivien Hart...
The Extraordinary Untrue Life of Mirah de Rothschild is coming out March 1st next year, and things are starting to Happen 👀 a launch event already lined up. Watch this space for more info on my queer Jewish 'John Tucker Must Die meets My Fair Lady' romantic dramedy.
I've had some disappointment today. So time to promote my queer Jewish 1870s 'John Tucker Must Die' meets 'My Fair Lady' romantic dramedy, THE EXTRAORDINARY UNTRUE LIFE OF MIRAH DE ROTHSCHILD, coming March 1st!
Obviously I adore all the wedding pictures of myself and my beautiful wife, but I also have to admit, this bridal party 'act like it's a painting!' photo is an instant classic. The dramatic lighting under the chuppah really did that.
When Kit Northcott's sister is found dead the night before her wedding, he's forced to team up with the local butcher's son to uncover a dark mystery in the heart of Epping Forest, and a hungry pond that wants Kit next.
Queer historical fantasy based on Essex folklore

Loving this trend of 'not related to anything at all, but...' and promoting Jewish stories. So reminder that my very queer, very Jewish Gothic Horror went out on sub yesterday. Windy 1840s moors, suspicious deaths, and whispers of a giant black hell cat 🐈⬛🔥🍂💀🪡✡️
Have to show off my baby on sub!
#pitlight
🪡 1 mysterious Jewish weaver
🥀 1 runaway society girl
💀 mysterious murders on Bodmin moor
🐈⬛ rumours of a terrifying hell cat
🍂 setting as a character
And 1840s queer, Jewish Gothic Horror!
I think if you call your wedding a Gatsby wedding you need to commit. Run someone over with the bridal car. Make sure everyone leaves broke and disillusioned. Go hard or go home.
I will never understand Gatsby-themed weddings. Like, did you read the book? Gatsby is killed and Daisy doesn't even have the decency to come to his funeral. You wanna theme your wedding after that? Really? You can just as easily call it a Roaring Twenties theme!
My historical romantasy is on sub, but letting editors know my historical thriller/mystery is coming soon! THE TERROR meets ALIAS GRACE.
🫀dual timelines, 1860s London and the Arctic

Just like that, Mirah was launched into the world! I had a fantastic launch in Glastonbury, with way more people present than I expected 😂

Oh wow! So many incredible artists replied to my last tweet 😍😍😍 I promise you all I'll take a look at all your work (I foolishly made that tweet at 10pm...oops) and get in touch with folks! Thank you so much for all the follows, happy to follow so many talented people back! ❤
So against my best wishes, I am on Twitter 😂 and proud and excited to announce The Unfortunate Honeymoon of Agnes Hart is being represented by

Honestly, I could cry; I recently started ADHD meditation and it has been life-changing. I've gotten more work and home stuff done this last week than I normally do in a month. So, so happy, I did not expect the meds to work THIS well for me. I feel unstoppable.
Good news, fellow Brits. The new £20 note goes into circulation tomorrow so we're all one step closer to having Uncomfortably Sexy Turner in our wallets.
In that case any editors snooping here, let me know if you want to read my queer Gothic set in an isolated Maltese convent.
🦅 YELLOWJACKETS meets MIDNIGHT MASS
🦅 Enemies to lovers to enemies again
🦅 Religious horror
🦅 Complex family dynamics

Fiancée and I just bought our wedding cake toppers. A pair of Sylvanian Family cats that look a bit like our cats. We're hand-sewing wedding dresses for them both to match ours. The gayest point in my life? Possibly.
I was just robbed. My laptop is gone. My books on it are gone. My uni notes and work are gone. I can't afford to replace my laptop with all the AHDH specific software on it. I just want to cry and give up.
One of the best parts of being an author for me has been making friends with other writers and cheering on their success. I LOVE smugly being able to point at a book and say 'I know the author!'...I cannot even fathom wanting to tear those people down and burn those bridges.
I gained some followers lately so it's time for you all to meet my ridiculous cats. Marius (left, reclined,) and Enjolras. Ragdolls, brothers. Marius is starting work as a therapy cat soon at a Jewish charity. Enjolras doesn't have a job.
I'm absolutely delighted to be mentoring the fantastic
@isabelacarv
alongside
@TheHollyRiddle
- both of us fell in love with this delightfully unsettling story!
I am so, so beyond excited for the very first year of

. Isabela's submission blew me away. Jaw literally on the floor. This book is so spooky, scary, creepy and wonderful, and agents are going to love it.
I don't normally share photos of my son for privacy reasons, but you can't see his ACTUAL face in this one, so enjoy this work of art. Kicking cancer's ass in style 😂

is it? Not sure of the rules but my 1870s queer Jewish 'John Tucker Must Die' meets 'My Fair Lady' romantic dramedy releases in...just under TWO HOURS!

It's my little boy's first day of school 😭 I can't believe it. He's battled cancer before he even started school and now he's off on his next adventure.
I've promised myself that when (not if!) I get a book deal, I'm going to buy a replica gown from the era the story is set and wear it for all my promo and launch stuff. I'll do it every time I sell a book. So catch me only writing stories in eras I love the fashion for 😂

The two MCs of my very nearly finished 1870s sapphic romcom! JOHN TUCKER MUST DIE meets MY FAIR LADY. A poor Jewish actress from Limehouse is hired to pretend to be a French Rothschild cousin and seduce the no-good brother of a scheming socialite...all is fair in love and war 🎭
Writing a novel is a communal process. Round Table mentors focus on the whole life of a manuscript and their mentee's development of skill and craft. Uniquely collaborative, supportive, and diverse, RTM seeks mentors who come to the table ready to help, not just lead.
Still think the best feedback I've had on Mirah so far was from a middle aged woman at my synagogue who told me 'that carriage scene made me realise I'm bisexual', so, you know. I've peaked.

Thank you to the amazing
@nikespera
for drawing Kit and Billy from The Epping Pool so beautifully 😭❤ Kit in particular is So Pretty, exactly how I imagine my away-with-the-faeries Victorian writer 🦊
I am SO incredibly happy for my lovely and amazingly talented mentee!!! I fell in love with Isabela's gripping Gothic from the first few pages, and I'm SO delighted that soon other people get to be terrified by it too! 🖤 congrats!
✨I have an agent!!✨
I’m delighted to announce I’m now represented by

Caitlin’s enthusiasm for my gothic horror novel and my writing career blew me away. I’m so excited for what the future will bring!
I'm kind of overwhelmed (and overjoyed) with how much positive attention (and some industry attention!) my QueerPit pitches for THIS SAVAGE KINGDOM got 😭❤ thank you everyone! Hopefully I'll be able to bring this hungry book to you all in the near future 🥩💀

Shouting out my fantastic agent
@jilliganjonze
here - she has championed me endlessly since I signed with her and has been SO supportive despite me being a nervous wreck this time around on sub 😂 she always answers my emails so fast too despite being super busy. She's brill.
Enormous shoutout again to
@oliv_pit
for making Mirah and Eloise from my 1870s queer Jewish romcom 'The Extraordinary Untrue Life of Mirah de Rothschild' SO gorgeous and perfect! Seriously, go commission this amazing artist!

I'm honestly so excited about this WIP I'm working on. Based on some real folklore about a local area. Two different love stories across two different timelines, interwoven. A dark and twisted historical romantasy...
In 2024 I'll be...
❤ selling my Gothic Horror on sub 🤞
❤ going on sub with my historical romantasy
❤ publishing my 1870s romantic dramedy
❤ drafting its sequel
❤ possibly drafting my YA Gothic Horror, too
Authors, tell me what you’ll be working on in 2024? ✨💖
I’ll be:
- editing MG 1 👸🏾
- drafting MG 2 👩🏾🚀
- drafting a YA dystopian romance 💧💖
- finishing an adult SF romance 🥵🚀
- promoting THE DIVIDING SKY to anyone who will listen! Speaking of which:
Just sent the revised, polished manuscript of Cat to my agent, ready for subs. It's in God's hands, now. I'm treating it like a discerning old money heiress treats her estranged illegitimate child until it comes home with a medical degree (a book deal). Bye 🐈⬛
Tonight and tomorrow night my fiancee and I will be sleeping in a tiny wooden cocoon with only a bed and a kettle in the place that's the setting for my new WIP. Mildly unsettling research trip, here we go!
Going out to editors next year...
💀 queer historical romantasy with gothic elements
💀 based on local folklore
💀 duel timelines, 1757 and 1887
💀 a sentient pond
💀 slowburn gay love story
💀 fae horror
💀 a dashing highwaywoman
In light of Recent Events, I'd like to offer 5 query critiques to any querying authors rocked by this nonsense. I'm a mentor in the

The love my pitch for THIS SAVAGE KINGDOM got *again* has me 😭🥺❤ also I got to see so many amazing pitches and follow so many new, amazing authors! What a successful Questpit 🍾 thank you again for all the love for my messed up queer story!
I'm now on an official self-imposed deadline for these TSK revisions. I want this beast of a book in my agent's hands by the end of this month. Wish me luck 😭
So I've been meaning to make this tweet for a while re my gender and stuff. In case anyone isn't aware I prefer they/she pronouns and consider myself nonbinary-ish. For ten years I identified as a trans man, was on T, etc, and I still strongly connect with the transmasc (1/?)
