Extra time in an all ireland final is absolute lunacy. both teams deserve a second day. @RTEgaa @TheSundayGame

Some display of heart from @TipperaryGAA minors. James Woodlock is a real passionate tipperary man and his team the same. hard luck on kilkenny.

Waterford played 4 games and only won 1, Galway played 5 and only won 2. No disrespect but both don’t deserve another chance. Would demean provincial championships. Scrap the Joe McDonagh cup. All teams should be competing in Leinster / Munster as they do for minor / U20 comps.
For now, the Joe McDonagh Cup winner getting into an All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final is barely acceptable. I’d rather the competitions were decoupled now but here we are. But the idea of having the loser of the second tier still in there is just bonkers. Whatever way you slice it, having the fourth-placed provincial sides facing off this weekend - Waterford v Galway - would lead to a much more competitive and exciting prelim. In the case of The Deise, they’ve certainly shown enough this year to suggest they can compete with most teams. Furthermore, it’d be better if the provincial championships were no longer linked to the All-Ireland series. It’s lopsided.
