I will not apologize for displaying my pronouns on my social media bios or on my ID badge at work. As a physician it’s my duty to ensure marginalized patients feel safe and comfortable. Manufactured outrage over another person’s pronouns is hardly becoming of a physician.

Because H5N1 isn’t new…. It was discovered in 1996. The US has stockpiles of vaccines against strains of H5N1 and other avian influenza viruses like H7N9. The threat to humans is low, but we should still be prepared. Not everything you don’t understand is a big conspiracy.

As a hospitalist I admit a lot of fall patients. I always ask if they’re on anti platelets or anti coagulants. It’s standard of care, not a conspiracy.
When I was taken by ambulance to the local ER two days ago, after a fall, I was asked again and again - by the EMTs, the RN checking me in, the ER Dr -: ‘are you on blood thinners’? As if it was now a routine question. Never has been routine before as far as I know.
