Happy New Year! Last month, we had the pleasure of hosting Brodie Hopkins, an independent filmmaker on a mission to create a series of twelve short documentaries highlighting NGOs across Africa making a significant impact in protecting the planet. Conservation Through Public Health (CTPH) was honored to be the first organization he featured in this series. I thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with him and greatly admire his commitment and humility. Watch the full video now on YouTube through the link below:

With the nature of my work, I’ve had the chance to feature in quite a few documentaries highlighting our conservation efforts, and I’ve loved every moment of it! That’s why visiting the @netflix headquarters in California has been such an exciting experience. Thank you so much Janet for hosting us. Your work as a Casting Director at Netflix is wonderful.

It was an absolute pleasure to be a guest speaker at Calgary Zoo and reconnect with friends in conservation while meeting veterinary and anthropology students and staff from the University of Calgary and the Zoo. I began by sharing my family’s connection to Calgary, reflecting on how my father, Hon. William Wilberforce Kalema, was interviewed by the Calgary Herald in 1966 during his tenure as Uganda's Minister of Commerce and Industry, a year before he became Chairman of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. I was inspired by the thoughtful questions about our work at CTPH and thrilled to see so many people supporting us by purchasing “Walking With Gorillas” book, and Gorilla Conservation Coffee and my son Ndhego’s book “Zoo Keeper for a Week”. A personal highlight was visiting the tropical rainforest exhibit to see the lowland gorillas, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and vibrant birds in a beautifully warm environment. Thank you so much, Dr. Gráinne McCabe, Prof. David Fernandez, Prof. Susan Cork, and Dr. Doug Whiteside, for hosting me in Calgary!
