Hey it's
#PortfolioDay
!
I'm a 3D game dev that likes making anthro characters and furry creatures. Looking to start creating my first game in the next couple months!
Super excited to start learning Karma and the new tools in Houdini 20! Did a test render of one of my models and it took 17 seconds using the new fur shader! :D
Testing out my model in kemorig! It works flawlessly even with a huge amount of fur :D
So glad that I can use FBX files instead of messing with the VRM format
Experimented with adding fur to
@alrgwoodnbadger
's Vixen rig! Huge thanks to them for making such a fantastic model and rig, it's been a joy to work with and learn from!!
Going to try making some different poses and lighting setups soon!
Made fur progress in learning blender fur today!
Vertex vs spline coloring:
Basically, coloring the individual vertices closest to the body vs coloring the whole hair a single color.
While coloring the whole hair is more natural, it's harder to get crisper designs like tattoos.
I think I'm going to commit to learning blender's new hair system for future models. My legacy Redshift render license has stopped being supported and I've been eyeing the blender cycles renderer for a while.
After messing around with it for an hour, the results are great!
Woke up today and realized that rendering fur is the biggest bottleneck in my pipeline.
Guess I'll just have to start making my characters hairless from now on. It's so much faster! : )

Here's a proposed change that could bring artistic nudity back onto
@Twitch
@TwitchSupport
. Give users a slider at the top of the category that can hide or blur mature streams. Also make sure that mature streams are hidden by default to underage users and people not signed in
🧵
Follow-up: I learned the blender hair system, but I'm going to jump back to Houdini since working with blender hair is very slow performance-wise.
Despite cycles being fast and pretty, I can't justify waiting like 20+ seconds every time I touch a hair slider when making edits

's ToS changes and my account was just suspended for "Adult nudity". Thanks to everyone who reached out to me, hopefully this gets overturned quickly. I was doing nothing wrong.
Here's a little fur update on a new coyote character I'm working on. Currently I'm rigging him for animation, but I'm having fun experimenting with making fur patterns!
I'm not really used to posting WIP updates, so if you guys are interested in these sort of posts let me know!
My friend
@kofu_digital
hit Twitch Partner recently and I made them a small gift to celebrate! Go check out their stuff! They make some amazing 3D art and they are an amazing person! Congratulations Kofu awawawa! :D
After a few busy weeks, I'm back to doing some art!
Been messing around with learning blender recently. I imported some rough Houdini hair to try in cycles.
Enjoy my random tests while I try to get back into the swing of things :D

I'm Djano, a freelance 2D/3D character artist that specializes in creatures and anthro characters.
I do a lot of sculpting, painting, and grooming hair/fur and I'm going to make my own game series someday!
For those interested, here's the site!
My friend
@protowlf
made the app in unreal engine. It uses a blueprint workflow and feels like making a regular character asset using unreal. The app is currently in early access, go support him if you can!
In case the video quality is a bit crunchy, here's a bit of a clearer picture of what the fur looks like.
For the parameters, separated the main fur pattern into a primary and secondary color, then created a 3rd color group just for the whiskers.
My suspension has been reversed, but
@twitch
is no longer allowing nudity. I really wish they hadn't reverted the ToS. The problem was not the nudity being allowed. The problem was the bad actor's that were hate-raiding and bot accounts flooding the art category with twerk videos

's ToS changes and my account was just suspended for "Adult nudity". Thanks to everyone who reached out to me, hopefully this gets overturned quickly. I was doing nothing wrong.
The reason given for the removal of artistic nudity was due to AI-generated explicit images. If that is the case, AI should be banned from the platform since it can generate unpredictable images. It is easy to tell if a streamer is using AI and it has no place in the Art category
The art community feels unjustly punished for the ToS revert. We have been advocating for artistic nudity for a long time. We were respectful and overjoyed when it was finally allowed, but then heartbroken when it was taken away due to hate-raids and bot channels.
I'm hopeful that twitch will make the right decision and allow artistic nudity again. I think the change I offered is a big step towards making the platform safer
I urge artists who agree with my sentiment to share this post and their feelings. Maybe the right person will see it
ToS violators should be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Punishing the entire art community by removing artistic nudity and expression is wrong. Especially since the vast majority of users that were breaking the rules were people from other communities trying to cause trouble.
Been spending a lot of time learning how to make fur in Houdini. I still have a long way to go, but it's fun to learn and I can't wait to get better at it!
One day I hope to be able to make some awesome fluffy characters in a game engine.
We are mature adults and we want a space to be able to show our work without living in fear of getting hate-raided or mass reported
Artists have to jump through so many hoops to not show nude references and I've even seen people suspended for characters that are perceived as nude
I love streaming on twitch, but as an artist it feels like we are constantly walking on eggshells when it comes to drawing the nude form. The community wants artistic nudity to come back. It was a fun and respectful experience for me and many others.
Hope you guys enjoy these little updates. I usually vanish for a month or so and try to figure all this out on my own through abandoned forum threads and niche videos lol
I figured that if I post stuff like this, it might help someone out there who's trying to do the same thing
WIP of a Flamedramon model I'm working on. I'm really liking how it's turning out so far and I'm on the way to retopologizing and then finishing these textures!

I believe if people properly tag their streams as mature and stream in the proper category, then all of these problems can be avoided and twitch can be a safe place for viewers who don't want to see mature content and streamers that don't want to stream to underage viewers.
Hello

!
My name is Djano and I'm an aspiring gamedev specializing in 2D and 3D art. I'm still putting my portfolio together, but here's a mix of 2D stuff I've finished and some 3D works in progress!
Still refining it a bit, but here's the basic concept.
I'm moving hair curves and copying a grid of points to each point on the hair and connecting them to make chunks of hairs. I'm visualizing what it looks like here with a sweep node. Working on scaling the box by hair length
@Twitch
Artists were being respectful. I want to see artistic nudity come back, but the site needs to be able verify viewers' age, blur 18+ thumbnails, and make sure that people stream in the proper category. This was ruined by hate-raiders and bot accounts streaming in the Art category.
I'm grateful that I was able to have a mature stream with my viewers and am lucky to have such a great community.
Maybe Twitch will rethink things. Normalizing artistic nudity is a good thing and it's frustrating that we were so close a positive change for the art community.
Doing character design stuff for a game I'm making! Thought it would be fun if I drew my sona creating the protagonist, Zach. He's pretty weirded out by the whole process though.
Uh... everything seems to be on fire
Not sure what's going to happen in the coming weeks with all these sites burning down, a lot of people feel like there is no obvious option on where to go next
Whatever happens, I hope to see you guys on the other side of this. You guys rock
Hello! Kind of new to posting my art online and social media in general. I'm an indie dev that is trying to get better at art until I'm ready to make my own game. I can't wait to show you guys what I can do!
Just started making my Artstation portfolio last month. There might not be much on there yet, but there's much more to come! I'm hoping to find success and land my first industry job in the coming year!
#ArtStationRecap2021
Learning XGen for this next project, Noivern! Having a lot of fun with it even if there is a bit of a learning curve. Definitely something I want to do more of and improve on, I love working with fur!
Just watched The Bad Guys and I loved it! Go see it if you get a chance!
I really liked how Mr. Wolf's fur clumps loosened and spread out in scenes where he was he was called "good". It's a small detail, but it goes a long way! (I geek out about technical fur-related stuff)
Experimenting with fur and rendering and accidentally made this adorable plushie-like render of a Zeraora model that I'm working on. Not what I was going for, but adorable nonetheless!
April fools of course!
I could never give up on the floof life :D
Glad to see that so many people liked how he looks hairless. This is actually how most of my models look before I start adding the fur
@TLagomars
Thanks TLago! I'm glad you like my small updates :D
A lot of my work in progress stuff can look a little cursed at times, but that's part of the learning process!
This model had a cool cinnamon swirl thing going on for a while before I got things working XD
I urge anyone who is planning on seeing the new Spider-Verse movie to wait until the audio mixing is fixed.
I enjoyed the movie, but legitimately couldn't hear 60% of the dialogue. Apparently it's getting patched
I'm going to have to rewatch it if it comes to streaming services
@alrgwoodnbadger
Thank you so much, I'm glad you like it!! :D
I made the fur in Houdini and I rendered it with Redshift.
I might try to do a small animation with the fur rendered in Unreal, if I can import the rig
Working on 3D model of a certain accordion-playing bird. Sorry I haven't posted much lately, but I'm working on a bunch of cool stuff that I can't wait to show you guys!

The stream, suspension, and reinstatement all happened before the ToS was reverted. I never broke the rules.
It's primarily bad actors and bots mass-reporting channels and getting streamers auto-suspended after a certain threshold
@CromePlaysGames
@Twitch
I'd be more than happy to do that! I know there's a lot of artists that are disappointed and heartbroken about the artistic nudity ban.
