We need a democratic party promoting stable free trade with our allies/strategic tarrifs on those opposing democratic norms, streamlined regulatory environment, and an arsenal of democracy.
Medium-term here is that Trump’s tariff bonanza has the possibility of stoking the growing abundance agenda movement in Democratic politics. It’s somewhat tailor made to be a vehicle for negative polarization on that as well as general Dem lessons learned from inflation

This is why you defend and don't settle from frivolous lawsuits, because if you show weaknesses, you'll just invite more pain.
BREAKING: FCC demands CBS turn over '60 Minutes' raw interview with former VP Kamala Harris, including outtakes, amid settlement talks to end President Trump lawsuit. First Amendment experts call it "a sad day." @latimes w/@SteveBattaglio

I'm no pinto fan, but this is a long time in coming. Unclear why @MayorBowser or @DCPSChancellor couldn't just act on this like basically every other local school district....
Interesting: @CMBrookePinto has introduced a bill that would ban cell phones in D.C. schools. “The non-academic use of internet connected devices like cellphones during the school day interrupts concentration,” says a press release from her office.

@RichHarrington_ @BarredinDC Thanks for the details. Did the approximately 500k cost back in 2016 include that too? If so, why the dramatic increase? There has been inflation, but not 200%

I appreciate @MayorBowser making clear she's in the corner of crooked cops. It may play well to the @DCPoliceUnion but DC voters will remember this if she tries to run again...

@ZachBIsrael @DCPoliceUnion @DCPoliceDept @MayorBowser The obvious reasonable ground between "back the blue" and "defund the police" extremists is that cops are key for public saftey but they can't do everything, need to be trained, and held accountable for misconduct. Not sure why that's such a hard place for politicians to get to.

Pardoning cop beaters and drug dealers, Trump is a real law and order kind of guy....
President Trump announced Tuesday that he has pardoned Ross Ulbricht, the founder of Silk Road, an underground website that the FBI once called "the most sophisticated and extensive criminal marketplace on the internet."

China wants to have tiktok in the US? They need to accept Google and meta in China.
I've argued for and supported a ban or forced sale of TikTok since 2018. The argument I made 6 years ago was that if we do not act now, looking at the growth curve, the service will become so popular that lawmakers will find themselves in an impossible position and a ban will never happen Unfortunately that is exactly what has now happened and now a horrible precedent exists. To any foreign government out there the message is that you are allowed to enter US markets under any pretense, with zero reciprocity for US companies, and as long as you are popular and influential enough the US government and population will go out of its way to facilitate your access If we are going to go to such extraordinary lengths for a foreign company and government Trump must make a demand of absolute reciprocity. Meta, X, Google, Snapchat, and all other US based technology companies must be allowed total market access in China immediately with zero control by the Chinese Government Now when the Chinese government inevitably laughs at this demand, ask yourself why. They correctly see Meta, X, Facebook, and Google as instruments of US soft power and as cultural contamination of their civic ideal which undermines their hold on power We however seem to naively believe we're immune from the same influence and have waited so long to act now that we face terrible choices. The one we've made inevitably means we will have a natural experiment now of what it means to allow a government which actively seeks to undermine our civic institutions with the most powerful known technological tool to do so

@tomsherwood @ZachBIsrael @DC_OCA Should we burn all data generated before covid? The council directed the study by law, the executive is obligated to comply. The questions of changes due to COVID or congesss are political questions related to implimentation, but are irrelevant for releasing the study.

Hey, when are you going to get with the program @dcpublicschools and @DCPSChancellor?
New Jersey joins the growing list of states and countries that are making schools phone-free. @GovMurphy says "Enough is enough." It teachers agree, as do most parents.

I get that Congess doesn't love remote voting, but not permitting it due to medical need or other emergency situations is silly.
Rep. Brittany Petersen says she's unable to travel to Washington for votes due to her pregnancy. She's leading a bipartisan resolution to allow expecting + new parents to proxy votes. “It’s unreasonable that the House refuses to make any accommodations for people who are pregnant or welcoming a new child," she said in statement. "We will continue to fight to bring our resolution to the floor for a vote and will work on measures like this to make Congress more accessible to young families."
