@ATabarrok @jaypgreene I need to current this. "Indirects" don't directly fund startup grants for new faculty. SRAD $$, at the discretion of the VP for Research in agreement with a college dean, may be redistributed back to the college or awards made directly by SR from SRAD $$.

With the university's cognizant agency, i.e., the federal agency the institution receives most of its awards from. We have to put a comprehensive package together that justifies the rate we are requesting.

@ATabarrok I'm going to disagree with you on replacing the broken centrifuge. Another budget source would pay to replace it...and not necessarily SRAD. It could be the department or college's budget, foundation discretionary funds for the benefit of the college/department.

Indirect costs aren't perks. Clearly you don't know anything about accounting either, radio talk show co-host. Go pound sand
