@jasoncrawford Did you look at OECD soil nitrogen balances? They give inflows and outflows (e.g crops), but might not be at the crop level. You might be able to infer something from that. Banged my head against this wall a few years ago as well.

@_alice_evans @MartinFiszbein @yeonha_jung Same idea, but we look at it across a range of crops w/in the US, which excludes traditional paddy rice. Some crops are more like rice than others in labor intensity, and that variation explains some variation in individualism. Makes Talhelm more broadly applicable.
